Hey everyone. My wireless internet connection in my room has been terrible for awhile now, so I've been looking at upgrading my "Linksys Wireless-G PCI Network Adapter with Speed Booster" in order to improve the connection. This brought a few questions to mind..
First off, the main reason my connection is crap is apparently from the type of wood my desk is made of... Its a type that saps signals (Stupid, I know..)
. Since the wireless antenna is in the very rear of the desk, it only gets a fraction of the signal. I can get a good 48 mbps sometimes, but all too often it drops down to 11, or 18 mbps..
So I'm wondering (Instead of buying a new Wireless card entirely), Would it be better to buy a new antenna for the adapter? Maybe something that can stretch out to the TOP of my desk and receive a stronger signal?
Or do you think it may be better to buy a new card entirely? Or maybe perhaps one of those hybrids that have antennas, but also plug into your USB port..?
And finally, is there a universal antenna plug type? Will any antenna I buy plug into my network card, or do I need to get into more of the specifics when researching? (I googled it and couldnt find a definite answer)
This is also the reason I haven't been playing TF2 lately :facewall: ... So of course I would really like to fix the problem soon..
Any help is greatly appreciated
