Second Thoughts About Windows 7

You had no problems with ME? Something is wrong here. Must be a conspiracy.:P
 
Well, I couldn't Activate Windows Vista. My CD key wouldn't work. I contacted Microsoft and they said that they read the key as "un-genuine".

Anyway, I'm now back on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, but I had to Install it 9 times. The first 3 times I got a BSOD when I tried to boot, the 4th time I could boot after install but THEN I would get a BSOD, the 5th - 7th time I could boot no problem but I couldn't install any programs. The 8th time I could install programs but I couldn't shut off Windows Defender or User Account Control.

Now the 9th and hopefully final time I installed. Everything SEEMS to be working fine. I still have yet to find a sound driver that works Windows 7 but other than that, things are going fine.

If anyone can find a driver for my Sound Card that works with Windows 7 let me know and post a download link here. My card is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE.

I have used the CD and downloaded the drivers from Creative Labs' site, but they don't work.

EDIT: Oh yeah I just installed Steam, does it work? Hehe, NO!. When ever I start it up it usually just stays at the "Connecting to Steam Account "SteamAccount" But somtimes it WILL start up....but then I get greeted by a BSOD.

Now I can say I have tried and tried, I have done everything. But, Windows 7 sucks....can't Microsoft make a good OS like ME or 2000 again? Like serisouly.

I've had xp, vista and 7 over the years and I can say that 7 may have its problems but its like vista and xp had a baby, an awesome baby of windows! Plus I got an OEM version from one of my friends who works at some tech store so I didn't need a key. Just install the version of 7 you want and you're good to go!

Again, things are backwards for me. I never had a problem with ME, yet I had lots of problems and crashes with XP. I don't get it.
 
Squishy, I looked through this entire post and did not see the specs of your computer. Did you post them and I missed it? If not can you please post?

I too have been running Win7 since beta and it has been ROCK solid.

What are the STOP codes you are getting when you blue screen? I think we can help you fix your Win7 install if you give us some details. (Perhaps make a post in the tech help forum)...
 
Ok Blue Stealth, those drivers don't work. (Yes I restarted my computer). FOR THE LAST TIME, I CANNOT read the BSOD, it comes and goes too fast.

Here are my system specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
2 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM
Asus P5K MotherBoard (Just P5K, nothing else)
Sapphire HD 4870 1GB (latest drivers as of yesterday)
Sound Blaster Audigy SE (NO SOUND!)

Western Digital 640 GB HD (Don't know official name)
Seagate 250 GB HD (Used as system Hard Drive)

Anything I left out?

EDIT: Yes I have re-formatted my Hard Drive before installation, I do that every time to ensure a %100 clean install

I have had absolutely NO issues since using win7.. none.. no bsod's.. no .. nothing.. and my RAM usage is excellent .. i use win7 ult.

BTW.. formatting doesnt necessarily mean clean.. depends on the type of format that is done... you can still pull files from the VERY First install of an os if you have the right tools *grin*

Then stop installing it and then reinstalling it over and over again, then complain when it does not work, it obviously wont if It hasn't 7 other times. I don't mean to be harsh or mean but what you are doing is literally insane, you keep saying 2000 and ME worked right? So go back to them, Also you can read a code dump from your blue screen you don't literally have to read it when it flashes for a second and I believe there is way disable the computer from restarting after a fatal error, someone already explained how to do this on page 2 I think.
Also It is obviously a problem with your hardware(or the drivers for it) because no one that I know has had this many problems with windows 7 and certainly no problems with XP. If I can install Windows XP, vista, and 7 on my mac then you can do it on your PC or there is something wrong with your hardware. I will end this post with a quote that definitely fits this situation. Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” that is exactly what you are doing.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium...and no problems, I have sound for the first time in 2 weeks and so far no problems (I never did have problems with Vista so I shouldn't start to) :)

Snuf makes a VERY good point , after nine tries and FAIL , it may very well be hardware related but not limited to RAM.

Try your copy of W7 on another machine... See how that turns out

Ok first of all, iOprah, your not making sense to me.

Secondly I would probably be classified as Mentaly Insane if I were to see some Mental Health doctor (Yeah i'm really screwed in the head).

Third of all I DID install Windows 7 on another computer and it didn't work. I Installed my friends copy of Win 7 on that computer and my Computer and they both didn't work.

I don't get it.
 
Im pretty sure I made plenty of sense, anyways maybe your copy of windows 7 is corrupt.
