I ordered one from NewEgg and received it 2 hours ago.

Previously, my CPU temps with the stock AMD Cooler (Shame on you AMD) for my Phenom II X3 720 were unacceptable. 54-58C Idle ...

In December, I bought a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 for my CPU and when it arrived it was bent up horribly, it HAD to have happened before packing it too. I ended up RMA'ing and when the new one came I installed it and the bottom fins touched my RAM a little bit. I removed one RAM stick to install it and the temperatures were the SAME as the AMD Stock. I returned it and stuck with stock FAN for a while.

Few days ago I decided to order the 212 Plus. It barely fits in my case, but it fits perfectly and comfortably. My Idle Temperatures are now ~35C. I was worried about changing my backplate, but it turned out to be easy and fast.

The HeatSink is pretty large, but if you have a 7.5 Inch or more wide Case it should fit perfectly. The Fan is very quiet, although my case fans are not :X

I'd highly recommend this HeatSink, it's performance is great for the $29 Price Tag, and since I live in Florida where it gets really hot and my cases airflow is sort of terrible 'cause I have so many wires, I'm sure it'd work for others even better than it works for me.

you should try to clean up your case then, those are some high temps. ambient would contribute but so would poor case flow. clean that sucker up and i bet you see another 5c drop or so

I also have this cooler. It keeps my Phenom II 965BE at 26c idle :D

I just got my 212+ about 1 week ago, and i love it.
At 1st i was really scared about having to remove my MB, but once I got to it it was fine.

My temps went from 39c down to 21c (idle)

btw: instructions=worthless piece of crap. I could have looked at a rock and got the same information. :D

Totally agree xD I watched a video on YouTube prior to ordering this so I knew exactly what to do.

I wish I could get 21C :(

How do you manage that? I have a RoseWill DESTROYER, I should probably add the additional 3 fans.

I have 78 Fahrenheit temperature in the house. Not many places to hide my cables in my case either :( Non-Modular PSU and it's bottom mounted. Area behind my the back of my MB is thin.

It's times like these that higher quality cases with good cable management and more space come in handy :)

My House= ~70 degrees Fahrenheit.

I have a Thermaltake v9 Black.

I tried really hard, but my cable management sucks.

Also the 230mm fan on the side hit the heatpipe of the 212+ so i had to remove it (the fan) i could probably get 19c if i still had that fan :facewall:

I also only have a dual core CPU so that might make the difference.

Methinks its either the 1) better case airflow, or 2) ambient temps (of house)

MC has OCZ Vendetta cooler's for $9.99 . At least in Michigan...

Turns out my case does have room for cable management. I took took off the 2nd side of the case and notices a rectangular opening by the PSU where I rotued all the PSU wires behind the MB except the 24Pin Power(It's a little too short), the SATA Cables, PCI-E Cable, and HD Audio. Everything else is hidden behind my MB xD

I can't really tell if it helped any, the temperatures here aren't stable at the moment. Got extremely cold this morning. My Idle Temperature this morning was 28C and now it's 30C.

I also OC'd my Phenom II X3 720 to 3.2Ghz @1.350 Volts. Wonder if I can go higher, I will not change the voltage no matter what xD Most people I see can only get it up 3.1-3.3 Stable at this voltage.

lol y don't you wanna change volts........its simple, easy, and fun........plus you can get higher clocks doing so.

Terrified to :( Was told it kills a CPU before heat does.

Ok, scratch what I just said lol, I remembered wrong, but still. I have no idea how risky changing the voltage is.

Its risky if you don't know what your doing, don't have an aftermarket cooling solution, go way above the safe zone for voltages for your "specific" CPU.

You could just increase it in really small amounts. If you don't need to then don't do it.......

For my CPU Voltage spec is 0.850-1.425V

Does that mean it's safe to put it up 1.425? And if that's the case, what about when my PC is running and the CPU voltage slightly increases and decreases constantly, do I have to put it a little bit below 1.425(If I ever needed to go that high) to make sure it never gets above 1.425?

you can put it to 1.425 base. raising voltage isn't bad as long as you keep the heat under control. higher volts means higher clock means higher heat. if you keep the heat under control you're good to go....but don't set it too much higher than the stated maximum.

yup........your cooler just needs to be able to cope with the temperatures. No you don't really have to worry much about the voltages being less than you put in bios or more than. All you need is the amount of voltages to run it stable.

My CPU won't get very far :(

Tried 3.6Ghz and bumped voltage up until it got to 1.425 and then stopped. Was unstable.

3.4Ghz @1.400 was unstable too :(

3.4Ghz @1.425 seems to be stable. Prime didn't crash instantly or 2 minutes after and it's still running after an hour xD. Might stop it so I can play TF2 and restart Prime while I'm sleeping xD

I really wanted to get up to 3.8 though, oh well.

Load Temp is ~41C

have you tried downclocking the ram?
it might be holding you back.

Nope, I haven't. Do you mean lower it from 800mhz to something like 400mhz? And why would it hold it back? My RAM speed doesn't change when I increase my CPU frequency since I have a black edition processor and only have to move the multiplier.

And I seem to be stable at 3.4Ghz @ 1.425 Volts. (10 Hours of Prime95)
