Upgrading from a 4850

What would be a good video card to replace an ATI 4850? I have a I7 920 with 3gb of DDR3 memory if that matters. I want to upgrade my 4850 so I can play Bad Company 2 with pretty decent settings. Does anyone have any suggestions?

One of the new 5 series ATIs if you're looking to get a video card now. If you have the money, 5970. Or wait for the nice new nVidia cards!

Either way I recommend waiting for GF100 to hit the market. At that point the 5xxx series prices will fall due to competition, better supply, and less demand. And if GF100 turns out to be great, you can get it. In the mean time, upgrade to 6gb's of RAM?

wait for the Fermi cards to come out........then the ATI DX 11 cards will drop in price and you can choose between the newer Fermi of the cheaper ATI.

I have a 4850 right now too and im waiting.........i was contemplating just getting a 4850x2 and doing a tri-fire but i figured i'll just wait. I kinda want DX 11 also. Ill most likely go with a dual-gpu solution by ATI or a competing card by Nvidia.

Possibly........expect the GTX 380 (whatever they name it) to be close to $600 and then cheaper from there on. Then the GTX 395 (whatever they call it) will take that price tag a couple months later? and the rest will drop/lower.

I hope the prices on the ATI go down atleast $100

man i can't wait till the 5970 drops to the $300's like the 4870x2 did or maybe even cheaper if we get lucky

Yup......its gonna be pricey but will it be worth it when ATI prices drop?? Basically get 2x5870 for the same price eventually or 2x5850 for same price/cheaper.

You are probably right. The lack of competition for AMD right now isn't there, so they are pretty much charging what they can to maximize profits, unlike the past.
