Old game needs to run on one core

I need to have my kind of old game run with one core because it crashes in a few minutes otherwise. I would prefer if it could be run though this, which works, but runs on all cores.

I also had had this one work, but it has become broken (for some reason...).

 C:WindowsSystem32cmd.exe /C START "Simcity 4" /high /affinity 1 "C:Program Files MaxisSimCity 4 DeluxeAppsSimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1600x900x32

The game is Sim city 4 and I have an Amd Athlon x2 (Duel-Core) 64 running Windows Vista.

Sometime i can change the affinity in Task Manager before the game goes into fullscreen, but it doesn't always work

If I'm correct, they will only utilize one core sense their programmed that way. DoD:S and CSS will only utilize one core because its the way their programmed.

Even when you set -threads 4 in the advanced launch properties, you won't see a perf. diffference.

as i failed to mention, i didn't buy the game in steam, it's shortcut though it. (see second launch code)

are you not able to start the game then change the affinity?
if not on fullscreen, try on window, just have the task manager open when you start it and change it ASAP. it should always work too as long as you get the right process

This program here allows you to launch any EXE file in however many cores you need.
