I have a Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 with 2.20 GHz and 2.0GB Ram. It is a ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series. I would like to upgrade this to a quad core but dont want to buy a whole new computer but do i have to buy a all new computer to upgrade it to quad.

It's a socket 775 processor so upgrading to a Quad is pretty simple and you have a lot to choose from.

This is true on 99% of motherboards.
There are a small select few motherboards that, although are socket 775, will not work with a Quad Core. Don't ask me why, its what I learned from personal experience. >_<

It's dependent on chipset + BIOS support.

LGA775 had an abnormally long lifespan for an intel socket. The original chipsets do not support the 45nm Penryn's, etc.

We will need to know what motherboard you have to answer your question accurately.

Yeah, I was going to ask in the next post what motherboard you have just to be certain.

HAha, ive got a dell inspiron 545 actually.

intel core 2 duo quad @ 2.25ghz
