Its honestly a good looking device.........but it also is just a beefed up oversized iPhone.
Same OS, same Apps, same lame no ADOBE FLASHPLAYER!!!!no iChat
This is honestly meant to be like an eBook reader, not a miniaturized laptop which sucks. Im fairly disappointed in it, i wanted much more from it than it is.
Atleast you don't need to sign a contract to get 3G..........i'd rather just take an iPhone over this though. iPhone 3GS or the new 4G is more worthwhile.
This is for show, it will turn heads and people will go, "look he has the iPad" but thats about it, its going to function the same as the iPhone just that you can have a keyboard and a larger screen for watching movies.

I completely agree, the IPad is definantly just an oversized I-Pod touch/IPhone. Apple should abandon it and get back to their development of the Scary Movie 4 TrI-Pod! World domination and great music in one package, WIN!

Why would anybody get an eBook reader that is not an e-ink display? Kind of defeats the purpose imo.

lol beats me..........the iPad will definitely be more stylish and probably better than current eBook readers out there right now. Color display, larger screen, more functionality. It is much larger though compared to something like a Kindle and more expensive.
I would probably think about getting this if i was in the market for an eBook reader, just for the style, quality, and functionality over current eBook readers.

But the claim to fame of e-book readers is the e-ink display. It's almost exactly like reading a page of paper, ie it is easy on the eyes. Color e-ink is just around the corner too.

yea i see what you mean........oh well, we will see.....$12-$13 a book on the iBook isn't terrible. Jailbroken iPad just means everything for free lol

I think they have to many people working on the design team and not focusing on the other stuff. If it looks good, people buy it. :/
Even the resolution dosen't look that good. They literally just blew up and iphone..which is confusing because no flash among other things.
It's a limbo between a e-reader and a laptop which is ultimately useless. Too expensive, if I want a e reader ill get one, if I want a laptop ill get one and they will preform much better at the tasks.
This even takes out the only function that makes it worthwhile, portability. If all I can do is sit at home/in a coffee shop with it.. ill probably just end up using the PC or reading an actual book. Don't know how many people are going to buy one when they already have a laptop.

just sounds and looks stupid to me.
when it was in early stages i thought it was going to be an apple tablet pc which really would make a lot of sense considering how many apple users use wacom tablets with macs.
but i guess they decided to do something stupid instead.
if it wasnt so expensive thought it would make sense for showing presentations to small groups of people so there is at least one office type use for it.

I can see how this would be useful, not as any sort of computer or anything, but for light app work and media purposes sure.
Coupling the tablet with the digital content delivery of iTunes, I can easily see families using this in a variety of ways when they're on the go. The 3G version of this is (for me) the only way to go, but I bet if it's easy enough to transfer media files to it then it will catch on.
I understand that to most people it's easily derided as an over sized iPhone, but to me it seems to be a portable media device with internet capability...minus video chatting.
I'll let you know more once I actually have my hands on one.

The new device looks pretty awesome -- I really want to try it out whenever I next visit an Apple retail store.
But having said that, for the time being, I'm perfectly happy with my 3rd generation iPod touch (32GB). It has the same technology, only in a much smaller package.
