Use a Flash Drive as RAM

not really flash drives are pretty slow compared to ram so there will be almost no differnce

The idea is good, but the actual implementation of it does nothing on the end

even flash sticks went at the same speed as ram it would still suck and the flash disk would still have huge amount of latency on that memory.

I have 4gb of RAM now and I put in a 4gb flash drive and dedicated the whole thing, will it help at all?

very little dues to the flash disk being much slower and the huge amount of latency from the cpu to the flash disk vs the cpu to the ram chips.

and 4gb should be enough for general use and gaming

they have benchmarks out there.............the purpose of it is for people with like 512mb of ram or only 1gb of ram. That is where flash drives help the most, the performance increase is pretty good also. Pointless if you have like 3gb or more.

too slow!

usb interface is incredibly slow compared to the memory bus. With 4GB of RAM, it won't help at all. With 512MB Ram, you would see a difference.

I can't use readyboost... win7 disabled it because it said my HDD is too fast and ready boost would actually slow my system down...

I get a 7.3 on HDD on the score deal

I get a 7.1 or so. So using readyboost would just be messy

Readyboost mostly just saves you a couple of HD seeks. It's a nice concept that can help if you're already running out of memory, but games are more or less unplayable if you do that anyway.

As others have stated, this is really for "lower end" machines.

Nobody would be gaming on these rigs to begin with....
