I need a formula in Excel that will multiply two different columns and give the total of the two rows.

Example: Row A times Row B equals Row C. I need to do this with a hundred rows without typing the formula for each individual row.

I figured it out before and forgot to write it down. I'm old and clueless now.

Peace!

=PRODUCT(B6,A6)

replace B6,A6 with the cells you want to multiply

hope this helps :)

O.K. I know how to do that, I just need to do that for a 100 columns and get a final total at the bottom.

Pretty much: Quantity multiplied by Price equals final total of all the columns and as I change quantities in different columns, the final total changes. I know theres a single formula that will do all of that. I stumbled upon it by playing around but forgot to write it down like an idiot. I don'w want to enter the same formula a hundred times in a hundred colums.

Peace!

you should be able to write the formula and then drag that box (auto fill)all the way through the other 99

Thanks for all your help. Nothing is working.

I made a list of items for my next computer build and have a quantity column and price column.

I have a final total of the price column but I need to calculate the quantity with the price and get a final total at the bottm of the page in the last cell. Very confused.

Example:

a1 = 4, b1 = $10.00, c1 = $40.00 D1 = $40.00
a2 = 2, b2 = $2.00, c2 = $ 4.00 D2 = $42.00

etc, etc, etc,

I don't want to type in a formula for each cell. I know theres a way to create one formula, I just forgot what I did.

Try going into the cell that you want the final to be (C1)and hit the = button. Then click on the first cell you want to add (A1) and then hit +. Then click on the second cell (B1) and hit enter. The formula will look like =A1=B1. Then if you want the same type of formula (A2 + B2....etc) for the cells in the same column (c column) just click the bottom right corner of the box and drag down...this will fill in the formulas for other rows

I finally figured out how to drag it all down. Thanks!

Now, the next problem is adding up the column for a final total.

Example: =SUM(F3*G3). The total is in column H. Then I drag it down all the way to H100. Then I type in at H100 [=SUM(H3:H100)] no brackets, and I keep getting a zero. In the other column [=SUM(G3:G100)] no brackets, I get the complete total for that entire column. And all other columns work except for the H column. Still puzzled partially.

For the total you dont need the Sum part. it should just be '=F3*G3' not '=sum(F3*G3)' Then all the way at the bottom of the column to get the total of all the 'price*quantity' values type '=Sum(H3:H100)'
