I admit it; I'm a chess geek. Wondering if anyone else is?

If there's enough people interested, we could do a small correspondence chess tournament using one or another (free) chess web sites.

I play chess. Not enough to revolve my life around it but I would also like to see who else here plays and maybe play with them sometime.

I used to play competitively when I was in elementary school and middle school. I think I've still got the trophies somewhere around here.

I'd be game if we can get enough people involved.

Well, let's see how many people we get who are interested after a week or so? I can offer casino points to the winner of the tournament.

My suggestion for a website to use would be http://www.redhotpawn.com. Registration is free, and free users are permitted up to six simultaneous chess games as a time.

We wouldn't be able to organize the tournament there, as free players, so we'd just have to do it off-line here.

Would a 3/7 time control work?

Not to toot my own horn but I'm pretty darn good at chess. I lived with my grandparents for 3 years and they insisted on playing chess because it is good for the brain. I got really good, even participated in a few tourneys and placed 1st at a few.
