The only thing I don't like about aftermarket cooler si that almost none of them exhaust the air outside of the case.

You also have to consider that the exhaust vents actually LIMIT how much cooling you can have. The exhaust vents have relatively LITTLE surface area to work with, so you can actually help your system by using a cooler like this while increasing the amount of exhaust with other fans. A lot of people have switched to cases with massive venting (like the 900) which allows more than enough venting to make up for a cooler like this.

An odd thing about the new generation cards is that they do vent to the outside, but do so with tiny little vents. Reviews of the v2 (egg) coolers on the 5770 are showing that the new coolers keep the cards cooler.... it doesn't matter how bad ass your cooler is, if the hot air can't get away from the components, the components will stay warm.

That being said... I am going to look today about adding a second 200mm fan to my desk build....268cfm just for venting at a very quiet sound level.... :)

Antec (you mentioned the 900) cases are horrible for graphics card cooling. If you use an aftermarket cooler that doesn't exhaust air, the air just gets trapped below the graphics card where there is no exhaust fan. Only exhausts are at the top...

Not to mention the fans that come with Antecs have a horrible CFM:db ratio.

The 900 has a side fan as well as the 2 on the front 1 on the back and the 1 on top.... the hot air does not get trapped under the graphics card. The only fan worth keeping in the 900 is the 200mm on top... the other 4 locations were occupied by Scythe s flex fans.

The point is not to analyze the Antec 900.... the point is about the dual slot coolers on graphics cards and how they may not actually cool better than other coolers out there. ;)

THIS
thats why im just keeping the stock cooler on my sapphire 5850, at least most of the air flows out the back

Keeps my gpu at 33 degrees celcius when idle and about 39-42 when in games :D I am pretty impressed with it. Even the case seems pretty cool when blowing air out of the vents.

This does make we want to get a new heatsink for my gpu but I guess I don't need it since mine idles at 32C with the stock PNY cooler.

Load in game is 45-55C depending on the game, 60C running furmark. I have it overclocked as well.

Then theres no need :)

I had a first gen HD 4850 so it is a single slot.......temps were ridiculous, like 100C even though it was meant to go that high it was still ridiculous. Put a Thermaltake DuOrb on it and my temps are like 50C load overclocked. I couldn't even overclock on the reference heatsink without artifacting or bugging out like crazy.

Im still unsatisfied with the 4850 performance.......thats y i wanna get a 5970 sometime this year when the price drops  then i won't need to upgrade for a while.
