Hi DoD Division!

I just downloaded DoD and I took a look at eGO's server listings and I was like :scared: there's so many!!

Can I ask for suggestions for what map to play? I'm new to the game.. so something on the simple side is good. :)

Also... I heard about choosing characters... can I get some quick advice on this? I play CS:S a lot so something that would require very little learning in terms of getting used to the difference between the two games is good. :)

Any additional tips would be helpful! :D

Thanks and I hope to see some of you on!

Test them all out! That way you can find out which one you like best :D

Avalanche and Kalt are good starter maps for you to get a feel for the game. Thompson and Mp 40 are usually the starter guns cause they are easy to control with the low recoil.

Try to get used to crouching while you shoot. Your a smaller target and you can control your gun easier. Also pay attention to the map on your screen. You can see when your team mates get killed and thus know that you have an enemy near by and a good idea of his location.

Communication is probably one of the biggest parts of the game also. Calling out enemy positions and such. Just try not to spam it. People get annoyed when you give them a play by play of every single action you do.

Last, don't get frustrated if you die alot. That happens when your learning the game. People spend way too much time getting extremely good at the game. If your not having fun on a certain map, jump to another. Alot of people have favorite maps you will always find them in. I used to play nothing but Donner, now I pretty much play nothing but Kalt unless its full.

Use the Assult or Rifle class for Allies and use the assult class for Axis, for starters ;) Visit here for more help on weapons ;)

Flash is where the pro's are LOL. Start out with Kalt, Ava, or Colmar. Like Diamond said use those weapons.

What's a "starter" map? These don't exist. I'll tell you what to do, play Axis and stay away from Allies until you know the game. The axis have clear advantages in most maps including Kalt and Avalanche, they have better weapons and most talented players play Axis rather than Allies.

I'm hoping if this thread turns into an argument it will be locked. There are sooo many threads with tips and tricks, literally a dozen or so, try searching the forum to find some of the good ones and I promise you won't run out of reading material any time soon.

go here and start reading, if you can aim and follow the instructions that follow you'll be a pro by week's end. http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/search.php?searchid=670646&pp=25

he's right, that's a great tip. Avoid Donner at all costs, it's really bad and kind of smells

This comming from the man whose second home is in the sewers in Kalt!!!

The biggest difference between CS and DoD is the recoil. Drag your mouse down as you shoot and try to shoot while ducking or prone. The advice i give to most people is spectate the best performing players to see what theyre doing right.

Flash were where the awesome is! Machine gun class is easy, for the most part, but boring, and you don't really get a good feel for the game.

PS

Flash is the easiest map to play because there is not so many buildings and corridors to get lost in.

ronpaul - I'll do just that.

Thanks guys for the advice.. I played on Kalt yesterday and got slaughtered. I think my first (and only) kill was from a nade I threw the second before I got killed. :)

The biggest difficulty I'm having is telling the difference between my friends and the enemies.. this is usually what happens:

Me: *spots somebody*
Me: Oh..hmm, I wonder if that's an enemy soldier... the uniform looks exactly the same!
Me: *dead*

Thanks again, fellas! :)

Escape>Options>Multiplayer>Advanced>Show icons over teammates. It helps if you weren't already doing it. And there's no friendly fire on our servers so why not just light up whoever you see to be safe?

Kalt is treacherous and if the Axis have a couple good MGs and a sniper watching the bridge and sewers there's really no tactical solution to advancing, you just have to overwhelm the position with a skilled player.

A lot of the game is learning where to aim your crosshair after you turn a corner, e.g. learning the enemy camping spots. If you can do that and have your crosshair within 100 pixels of a camper and you're using an Assault you'll probably get a headshot 4 times out of 10 (this is me calling Assault lame, but effective and easy to use).

Yes Kalt is the best map but beware in the sewers, they are dangerous for new player's but can give you more fun down there, make friends with the other player's and you will have more fun rying to kill them. Happy hunting.

pretty much take thompson or assault class at first as its the easiest weapon to use and check out all the maps and find the 1 you like the best :)
