...But making the most god awful noise!

Found the source of it, the fan on the Graphics card keeps stop/starting making this god awful noise. But seeing this happens a lot now, the PC has even shut itself off as the entire thing has become to hot even to touch seeing that the fan isnt doing its job correctly.

Being no techy at PC's, but is there any simple fix that could solve it? Really dont have the cash though to fork out for a new card.

Card by the way is a GeForce 9800 GT.

You can remove the factory fan and replace it with any 80mm fan. If you have an old 80mm fan laying around from an old case or old CPU fan. I used a Vantec Tornado 80mm fan on my old 6600GT. Worked great.

Like Snuf said, simply replacing your fan is fine. If you don't, it could become a fire hazard to your home

ya i would just replace the fan because the 9800 is still a very capable card so no need replacing it.

Thanks a lot! Until I can get a new one, just popped the plastic top off the card and removed the PC's side just to help keep it cool.

Which ones would you recommend?

I'd personally recommend water cooling it's quite and efficient, but if you do go with water cooling just take it into your local computer shop and have them handle it there, you could seriously mess up your computer if you don't do it right. water cooling is good but unless your over-clocking stuff there is no need for the cost of it and he is just trying to replace the cooling on one component not a whole system.

Well the problem is a lot worse now, the card has started to "artifact" (I think thats what its called). Was just playing project reality and the entire screen broke down into box's and lines, ending message was about the driver stopped responding.

This is gonna look expensive :s

personally i would recommend not to use the card till you have proper cooling for it so you don't ruin it or at least don't do anything gpu intensive until you got cooling for it.

Dam.... looks like Im gonna have to invest in a new cooling system. Would replacing the case be a better idea? This one has a limited space inside already so installing a new set of parts wouldnt work.

Just go to your local Computer Shop or even bestbuy, Staples or even Walmart. Find a decent 80mm fan. Odd's are it won't bolt on where the factory fan did. You can use a Zippy Tie (that's what I did with my 6600GT). Just make sure you place the fan on top of the Heatsink and blow air onto the heatsink, not away from it.

No need for a new Case. The 80mm fan doesn't take up any space really.

You can grab an 80mm fan for less than $10.

Both look good and not that expensive either, now to look for one in the UK. PCI one looks like it could easily fit between my card and PSU.

Here's my old MSI 6600GT with a Vantec Tornado 80mm Fan (the loudest fan in the world, sounds like a jet taking off):

And yes, itis an AGP Card lol.

Yes. Do NOT use the card at ALL until you receive new cooling. If you do use it you have a risk of destroying the whole card, needing to buy an entire new one.

Got a temp fix in place now till the PC store can get me a new fan for the card. Got two new intake fans at the front of the case and removed all the tacky plastic casing at the front to help air move through better.

Thanks for all you help guys!
