Norton AV Gaming Edition $10.99 today only

Whats the difference in the "gaming edition"?

i guess it takes less information to process it, and it makes it faster so you can use it for gaming i guess.

really just know what your doing when your on-line and you don't need virus scan i have never had virus scan or a virus.

Some viruses do not need user interaction to infect a computer. I would advise you to use some form of virus protection, if you are using a windows based operating system.

As per topic, I could not, in good conscience, recommend Norton Anti-virus or subsidiary products for computer security. This goes for McAfee and Barracuda anti-virus solutions as well. I recommend COMODO, ClamWin, Spybot S&D, and Avast systems. All of which are free or have a free version. Note that Spybot S&D is spyware protection only, and should be used in conjunction with a good anti-virus system.

I reccommend SunBelt Vipre. $30 a year, and it's extremely light weight, detects everything instantaneously, and doesn't fall for most false positives.

yes but the ones that require no user interaction still need a way to get access to my system which is behind a pretty tight firewall on a linux box that i use for routing.

and nothing has happened yet and iv been using windows since 95 and a pretty similar network set up since 2002.

I believe this edition uses less resources during cpu intensive activity, I think the link has an explanation below it or something.

Your firewall allows port 80. A virus can infect your windows box via security exploits in your browser or browser plugins, like flash or java. Most IDS routing boxes will not detect those.

i dont get why you people think avast is good!
it is (one) of the worst AV i have ever used.
if you really want a free AV use AVG, much better (tested by willingly downloading a FUD virus)
or pay and get a good AV like NOD32 : D

Trend Micro Anti Virus is probably the best AV out there that Ive used and 40$ a year.

It detects everything you throw at it (have had it since 2002) and its lightweight. In addition, it monitors your activity to learn when the best time to scan. Then every week generates a report of what its detected, viruses, spyware, malware, etc. Spybot S&D is a great anti spyware, used to use it back in the day of XP when you could easily get spy/ad ware from anywhere.

Nortons good if you never plan on doing more than Word, Excel, surfing the web since it uses 99% of your CPU when it scans.
