My opinion on 2012? Its idiotic. I apologize to all the youngun's on this forum, but every generation post 1960s are idiots. There was a huge scare in 2006, the date 6-6-06. Everyone said "THAT NEVARR HAPPENS ITS THE DAY OF THE DEVIL OMGOMGOMFG" and the only disaster that befell that date was the remake of "The Omen." Besides, what about 6-6-1906? and 1806? and 1706? and so on. Same with the whole 12-12-12 thing. Its JUST A COINCIDENCE. In fact, I think its more of a fun coincidence than a scary one.
Also the Mayan Calender crap is idiotic as well. Firstly, why should we care about a calender that belonged to an ancient, now dead, civilization for any other reason than historical reasons?
Secondly, the calender is not ending. A calender CAN NOT END. A calender is a MAN MADE measurement of time, as long as time goes on, a calender can not end. A calender can only end if time stops.
Thirdly, whenever the Mayan calender enters a period of destruction it is always followed by a period of life and prosperity. If the Mayans were really a mystical perfectly prophetic race, the next period of destruction wouldn't be the end of the world. We'd still be here. We've survived thousands of periods of destruction and we've survived thousands of periods of peace and prosperity, and did it affect us at all? No.
Finally, the end of the world doesn't have a date, it doesn't have a form, it doesn't have a name,* and it certainly isn't going to be polite enough to tell us when its going to happen. Its going to happen at complete random. The end of the world can be tomorrow. It can be 12 seconds from now. It could be another 80 million years into the future. It will come at random and its possibilities are infinite. It could be a nuclear war, it could be aliens, it could even be an uprising of animals hellbent on getting rid of us. Who knows? Its going to happen when we least expect it and it can happen at any time. It defeats the point if we can date it.
* If anyone says Armageddon is the name of the end of the world, you are wrong. Armageddon is a place. You can even go there if you happen to be in the middle east. Armageddon is just the site of a battle, a battle between the second coming of Christ and the anti-christ, and even if that happens the end of the world is only a 50% chance. If Christ wins, we live.

My Opinion is the reason that the Mayan calendar stops there is that I'm pretty sure the Mayan guy making it is like "My god I'm tired from chiseling this stupid rock for years and years.. You know what?! I quit I'm done" That's why it stopped. not to mention the bible says no man woman or child will know the date. Just throwing that out there for people who have read the bible.

You know that it isn't just the Mayan right? The Aztec Calender ends then as well. Also Nostradamus pridicted the world to end then as well. But with Nostrasdamus all of his productions were kind of vauge... soo...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Aztec calender doesn't end. Much like every calender ever made, it's designed to go on indefinitely. The same goes for the Mayan calender.
Though this fact has been stated multiple times through out this thread and will still likely go unnoticed.
Also no Nostrasdamus did not predict 2012, nor did he predict anything else for that matter. From what I've seen, yes we are talking about the "History" Channel special here, they found a couple of paper that were blank except for a few drawings on them. Actually when I go online and try to find images on these discovered pages all I get is people wanting to sell me their books.
That's right...any real research into this is block by people trying to sell me crap.
