Title pretty much says it all. Running a nice clean stock voltage 5850(MSI OC) edition) at

Current:
Core: 880
Memory Clock: 1275

Stock:
Core: 765
Memory Clock: 1125

No problems, great temps(63c after about 1 hour of 100% gpu load in bad company 2 max everything, including res at 2048x1152)

Wow........maxed at that resolution?? im getting average FPS is below 60 FPS though or close to it.

Whats the fun in overclocking if you don't make real good use of it lol?? with a little more volts and a boos in fan speed, you can get 1000mhz core or very close to it :)

i have recently seen that with prolonged gaming however sometimes i do get a game crash. i've attributed it to the gpu overclock so i've recently just dropped it to 950 core and 1200 memory with no problems at all with very long gaming times. i didn't need the extra 50 core and 50 mem anyway, it was pretty much just cosmetic.
i probably could up to 1000 core and 1200 mem, but again i figured it really wasn't necessary (even what i have isn't that necessary lol)
 
The only reason i am interested in oc'ing it was to see the result in bad company 2 beta. Pretty much why i picked up the card. I had a 4890 but i was able to sell it for 150(as it's pretty much new, and what i paid with MIR) and get the 5850 for 299, i sold a old laptop hd and old 2gigs of ram(ddr2-667) and upgraded to 4gigs ddr-800 in my laptop. So really, for the ram and card upgrade, i could not pass it up, espically after reading what people could push it to. The funny thing is, ATI overdrive or whatever is what autotuned the card to above that, i just turned it down a touch after just to be safe.

I played bad company 2 last night oc'ed for about2 hours, and hit 67c. I think that is still reasonable, and the fan didn't even come close to 40% so i guess the card agrees? What is normal temps you guys find?

Your temps are fine.........GPU's can go upwards of 80C and still be fine.

Bad Company 2 is still way too buggy for me and the lag in servers is terrible. I go on once in a while now but don't play for long before quitting out.
 
I have been having a GREAT time playing it, but yes, it will have bugs, and it's a monster to run at max res. I have found a few "local" servers and it's been great, what really upsets me is the lack of dedicated servers(again). They really want to dig into your pockets or drive pc gaming off the map. You can ONLY RENT servers from authorized server providers i hear for the game, to bad.
 
ya i've heard mixed review of the autotune feature, lots of people say it doesn't work and usually does overclock your card too far. most people just recommend doing it yourself for this reason
so what are you clocks and what is your voltage?? i could probably raise my voltage more, but i just set it at what the 5870 is and pushed it to the max with it. i can't remember what my max fan speed was with furmark but it basically caps at 70c (i also manually set the fan/temp ratio) which is plenty cool for vid cards and it doesn't effect the heat of my case much if at all.
one thing about this card, the fan gets LOUD. at 100% you almost want to plug your ears, it is so freaking loud it scares my cat out of my room.
