I got some more info for the new GTX 400 series from Nvidia, some of you are wondering how they stack up. As of now there are some indications that it may be an amazing performer in GPU related applications. The CUDA technology has really advanced and after reading the spec sheets and some early performance results, i cant wait to get one.

"NVIDIA has said numerous times that this will be cost competitive with similarly-performing ATI solutions"

"When it comes to architecture, it is refreshing to see a chip that has been built from the ground up to cater to next-generation APIs. Whether they like to admit it or not, ATI basically took DX11 features and popped them onto a more powerful version of their HD 4000 series and called it a day. However, they were the first to market and made ridiculous profits while NVIDIA sat back and designed a whole new architecture around the thought of offering the best possible DX11 performance. Who will have the last laugh? Only time will tell but ATI does have a strong lead."

Best parts and a great read.

lol they say that......but ATI is just gonna drop their price, then what happens?? wait a little longer till Nvidia is finally able to actually lower their prices.

Especially the fact that ATI 58xx are reaping the profits now with no Nvidia in sight. This head start is gonna be a big game changer.

:chair:Hopefully this will be the last time Nvidia will wait until the next century to release a new GPU technology

I think ATI has a good strategy going on right now, release first; bring in the money while waiting for nvidia to release their gpus. Then proceed to dropping prices while Nvidia has to have high prices.

dirty but effective

i don't see how its dirty, nvidias fault they released so late.
but i don't think you can convince me companies like ati/nvidia hold a full monopoly and are in cahoots in the entire industry.

It's completely worth the wait to have a reliable/stable card and a brand new architecture.

Prices are going to stay high. Last I checked a company called TFC or something along those lines are the ones making the 40nm chips for ATI and Nvidia, and the yield rates per batch are quite low. Which raises price and explains why ATI is still struggling to meet the demand for the 58xx.

I ran a pc with a 32mb nvidia card for 10 years, before I got my GT 220

I also had an nvidia card in my laptop. Was 16mb of RAM, 7-8 year old laptop.

All these parts have worked fantastic, to their extent. The 32mb nvidia one ran halo nicely

Thus, I've come to trust nvidia when it comes to quality. I've tried a few ati's with friends, but the performance and capabilities were nowhere near that of my GT 220

Nvidia is truly amazing

Same here, I've had Radeon several times but never had the card last longer than a couple of months, yet my 8800gt lasted 2 years of heavy gaming and temperatures up to 80c full load every time.

But, I know some people who have had several Nvidia cards die on them the same way.

People can say that about either brand lol. Like the issues with the radeon 48xx..........some people have had epic problems with it while others have had nothing but smooth sailing.

Exactly.

Just luck of the draw I guess you could say. Like, I've had better luck with Nvidia but a lot of others would have better luck with ATI. Warranties are the best.

I actually want to get a hold of another ATI card just to see how it would play out.
