I'm stumped Computer refused to boot after crashing.

I have it running now, but a little while ago it wasn't so happy.

I had just finished a major College Project, and while I was watching the outcome, it just froze. Everything was frozen completely unresponsive. I hit the reset button as a last resort.

Now I'm pretty proficient in computers and hardware, so when it didn't boot I took the side off the check the connections.

(By not booting, I mean it doesn't even begin the process of booting. The BIOS screen doesn't come up. It's just a black screen)

All the connections were fine the HDD was spinning. All the fans looked fine.

My computer doesn't have a temperature alarm, but I don't think it would fail to start at all if the temp was too high would it?

It was running, only it never started booting, or even started the process of booting.

I naturally turned it off, and checked the monitor cord as a last resort, perhaps it came unscrewed somehow

That wasn't it either.

Anyway, after a few retries it just booted up right.

Could this mean my Mobo is going bad?

I have a really old legacy machine that used to do this, until it just stopped working completely, and I think the mobo was the culprit on that machine.

Anyway, Any ideas?

Not getting any beeps from the motherboard when it fails? And I know that on my motherboard at least, there is a display that shows a hex code. The manual explains the codes meanings. It will give you a code if something isn't working. Do you have that on your motherboard?

I would say this sounds like a dead motherboard. Or near dead.



Try to find one that's compatible with all your parts you currently own, it'll save you a lot of money

It's working fine now. I'm going to see if the problem persists, and then I'll just pick up a new mobo. This is a cheapo one anyway.
