I will be unable to play ANY steam game or log on to steam for that matter.

why this happend..........

steam kept "validating" my ins files. once i go to play it, it "validates again" i did what they told me to do which was delete EVERYTHING besides steam.exe and steamapps folder THAT make the updating screen come up which would then CRASH at 99% yea pissed off i am.

COINCEDENTALY my norton has been beaten half to death by various things. I WAS ALSO infected by a site i visit often which i thought i could trust. it broke ITUNES and many other applictations or background processes running on my cpu everyday

a bid u a do :P

naw man it has been PREMO for me it has stopped EVERY intrustion attempt so far but i give it credit for its dedication

lol i fixed it i changed my graphics folder to "s" as a name because THAT direcrtoery is corrupted

nope i can log in but i cant play

In terms of security Norton AV isn't that bad.
However, speaking about performance, Norton is basically the same as removing one RAM bar (supposing you've got two bars) ....

AVG is a good recommendation.

Dude cut the crap you are grounded for being a bad boy I told you that your not old enough for those websites but did you listen -no!

ROFL man insurgency will still be here after your punishment

I'm with these guys as far as Norton being crap - we used to have it and it blocked nearly every web application/program we had at that time. We ran AVG for a long time and it did great (especially since it was free), and now we run System Mechanic. There was another one that we ran at work that was great, but I don't remember what it was called now. In any case, ditch Norton pronto. :)
