so i wanted to make a spray that supports transparency but cant really figure it out. Can anyone help me out with this?

well really its just text.. i got some text then put a stroke around it and put the inside to 0% fill so it would be transparent and i wanted only the outline of the words to display as my spray but every time i try either the whole image is transparent or the whole image isnt. i use .tga format because cant use png as a spray

essentially yes. a bit more than that but yeah its just my name rank and fah-tah-wah. lol

i just wanna be able to figure it out because if i ever wanna make a new spray i can just make one.

Just get down to one image layer with a transparent background. Select all pixels, then create a new channel (in the channels tab) and make sure the selected pixels are filled in with white in the channels layer. Go back to layers tab, make a new layer underneath your image and fill it with perfect gray (127,127,127).

Save as tga... and you're done.

ok so i did what you said and its not coming out. do these settings look about right??

alright.. so i noticed that when i create the new alpha layer its just black... but when you did it was black with the outline. i think thats where im going wrong. i clicked the 'create new layer' button at the bottom while on the layers tab there was just one layer with my text. how did you get it to make the text come out on the alpha layer? you said something about select all so i pressed cntrl+a to select the whole canvas.

No just select the pixels of your image hold control and click on the layer thumbnail and it will automatically select just the pixels you have filled in. Anything that should stay transparent wont be selected.

Then you goto channels and create a new layer, it'll be called Alpha layer automatically. Then just use the paint bucket tool and fill the selection with white. Click back to the layers tab and create a layer underneath your spray and fill it with perfect gray.
