Call of Duty MMO...lawlacaust!@#$%^

This is what happens when distributors heads get a little bloated. I'm just praying that DIII doesn't disappoint, but that's for another thread.

Who plays those games????

The only real good one i've heard about is Global Agenda, i've been hearing good things about that game.

FPS games are still usually pay for the game and play online free.......its the dominant system atleast.

CSS,COD,Battlefield,Half-Life,L4D, almost virtually every FPS game is like that. If they made FPS games a pay monthly subscription thing it wouldn't be appealing to the masses and likely not catch on. The only thing is, if COD did this, it probably would catch on and would change everything once again......theres gonna be petitions and all that once again but in the end, so many ppl may end up buying the game just like MW2. Personally, i got MW2 and it has become one of the most boring games ever now.

W/e, i don't really see FPS game being associated with monthly subscriptions.......only with MMO's

Your thinking to small mate. An MMO simply stands for massively-multiplayer online. The most pervelant MMO's are in the RPG genre, but there have been attempts to create an MMOFPS.

The most successful of these attempts at a MMOFPS was Planetside which daily threw thousands of players against each other in a three sided war for world domination. Each day a winning faction was announced based on the percentage of land that certain faction owned and each day the battle would start anew.

Planetside, when it was at it's best, had massive battles with hundreds of players and vehicles all attempting to capture or defend a certain base. The issue was that it wasn't focused enough and many times there weren't any large battles to join. You would just wander with your squad capturing small outposts.

The MMOFPS has great potential when you can get enough people to play them. Heck SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) feels that there is enough potential there that they are developing a sequel to Planetside.

So when I see this article I see that someone is finally making another attempt at the MMOFPS genre.

Planetside was AWESOME.

The game sounds good the way you put it.......i just never heard of it. I know Global Agenda is supposed to be a really good game. Planet Side must be too old for me. (yea 2003 is a long time ago lol)

I don't deny theres potential for such a game and it would probably be much fun but i thought were were talking about paying subscription for a typical FPS game like CS or something.........

Why is this an issue? If they're making subscriptions then its obviously going to be a MMO based game. If I remember correctly, WoW has monthly fees, whats so shocking about Activision doing it?

Erm, why would they make a Call of Duty MMO. It's obviously NOT going to be an MMO.

This rumor about a Call of Duty MMO is be going on for years now and nothing ever comes about it.

I hope a successful boycott finally develops. For the past 2-3 years pc gamers have been pushed around.

All this talk about subscriptions is to thwart piracy, but they made more money than they lost with MW2 (unfortunately.) It's just the old standby, greed.

It seems as if people, especially Americans have forgotten the power of the consumer.

i only have one thing to say,

welcome to the real world, where you are going to get the crappy end of the stick.

every corporation wants, what was it? o yea, money!!!! you think they care about what you think? they just look at suggestions that people give them, so they can make a product better and sell more.

once again, THEY DONT CARE about what you think. they want................

have fun discussing about that. rofl.

Didn't buy MW2, won't buy a subscription-based game.

I know there are/were a lot of people going with the whole mw2 boycott who still bought the game, but I'm the real deal. :P I haven't bought mw2 and don't ever plan to. And I'm a huge CoD fan... I've been going back to cod4 and waw...

Anyway, a subscription-based game is dumb peroid, but subscription-based fps... fail.

Very true, but the recent resurgence of this rumor coupled with the fact that they're going to have a subscription based game pretty much confirms an MMO.

What's the alternative, paying monthly to play Call of Duty7? Nobody is that stupid.

Well, for some reason people still pay for Xbox Live, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I wish I shared your faith.

There is no faith involved, it's basically the only logical conclusion to make based on the information released.

Heck even the article jumps to the MMO conclusion.

Furthermore, Destructoid quotes a source which claims that Infinity Ward is hard at work on a Call of Duty massively-multiplayer online game, which certainly fits the profile of a subscription-based title.

Except that a CEO talking out his ass isn't the same thing as an official statement.

I was trying to find a quote of the whole fiasco that Virgin Media was having back when their CEO said it would be a good idea to make websites pay a bribe to Virgin in order to have customers using Virgin internet get normal connection speeds while viewing those websites, but it seems that all four of the different places I tried to get a quote redirected me to some poker site, so I can't exactly get a quote.

The entire idea would have gone shooting down in flames and torn the company apart if they went through with it since a number of very large sites (Google included) are pro net-neutrality, and wouldn't pony up. Virgin Media never made the statement they would be doing this, it was just the new CEO just talking without any backing behind him.

You'd be surprised what console gamers would do for a call of duty game..

Im all for paying a subscription on a MMO, I have no problem doing that as it makes the game a lot better in the long run. Plus MMOs are the biggest/funnest games around to play. But a COD MMO, im not so sure about. They seem to specalize in the small warfare. It seems if this were to come out it would be instanced to hell. Although the best way to capitalize on the PC market is to make a MMO. PC gamers are all over MMOs and they make big big money off the PC market with them. They'd be able to take full advantage of all the platforms.

Not necessarily. Ever seen Japanese Monster Hunter Tri? Online requires a subscription, it's not an MMO.
