Cheapest place to buy an xbox 360?

computer shop, some sell them like my shop, we have a couple of elites for about $245 comes with every thing the store offers, we also give a 9 month warranty. so id say check a few computer stores, there usually marked down.

the reason ours are so expensive are that we replace the thermal compound to a high grade paste, so you dont get the red ring, and to prove it we still have one running for about a few weeks straight, its hot as saitans toe nails tho but it still runs, been threw sevral start ups and shut downs

What I did was figure out how to fix the red rings, then bought one off Ebay for $20, now it's fixed and has ran like a champ for almost 2 years.

Try the red ring gficibg

If not, get it used from EB games

lol if u get from ebay or somewhere, even a used/re-certified one..........im like 75% sure it's gonna fail on you and get the RROD. Then if you still even have a warranty, which the xbox probably won't, you can send it back to Microsoft which will take maybe a month.

Get a new one if you can.........you risk a lot when getting a used Xbox 360, especially the fact that like 80% of them got RROD's when they were first made. Of course microsoft made revisions each year about with new processors and such and the malfunction rate decreased but you won't be able to know which chip you got if it's an old one.

If the Xbox 360 is 1 year old, you should be fine, they will most likely have updated chips. Mostly anything older than that will have older revisions that are bad and still gave RROD's. They started to implement this new chip with the Elite's when they first came out that were supposed to be better......thing is, some and a good amount still got RROD's. My friend got it on his Elite when it first came out.

Im just saying, be careful of which you buy. New ones will be more safe.

Anyways, cheapest place........look around, there are deals all the time on new Xbox's. I think Newegg had like an Xbox 360 Elite bundle for $250, its probably gone by now.

wallmart.com has some good xbox 360 bundles and deals, most wholesale club stores do too like Costco. Wallmart.com has the new FINAL FANTASY EDITION XBOX!!! too bad its nothing special, just comes with the game, 2 controllers, and a 250gb which isn't a bad deal. You probably don't need 250gb and the 120gb are much cheaper with great bundles.

pew pew I can't disagree with you more, used and recertified ones are fine. Even if they get the RROD the warranty for that is 3 years!! I bought 4 xboxs for $20 each, one of them was 4 years old the others were 2 and 3 years old. Microsoft took every single one back and replaced or fixed all of them, and it took about 2 weeks not a month. I then sold them all for 150+. Even if they don't take the xbox back for warranty its an easy fix all you have to do is replace the thermal paste on the heat syncs. I would recommend buying them on craigs list or ebay, if you have too gamestop. Also if you want to buy it for cheap do what I did and buy a RROD one and fix it or send it in.

lol ummm i thought the warranty was only 3 years if you got it brand new..........if you get a recertified one or something, the warrantly ranges from 30-90 days depending on where you get it. Newegg was special and gave a full warranty with re-certified xbox's.

I understand where your coming from, but not many ppl want to go through the hassle of buying a broken xbox and fixing it. You may have gotten better service, my friends xbox just broke 2 weeks ago, he asked for a box to send it in and so far it hasn't come yet.

Yea, i've read about just re-applying thermal paste.....im pretty sure that voids the warranty though.

W/e, either way, he needs to be wary of what he buys.

Hmm, can I get some confirmation ...

If you buy a RROD Xbox360, and you try to send it into Microsoft for them to repair/replace it, won't they want proof that you're the original owner of it? And if they don't, then what's the point of anyone selling their RROD on E-Bay for cheap when they can get it fixed.

No, they don't check for any purchase confirmation they just check whether or not the xbox is under 3 years old, sometimes they wont even check for that. Also the reason most people sell it when they can get it fix is simply lack of knowledge, or their just so rich they can buy a new one everytime it breaks.

For pew pew's warranty question the standard warranty is only 90 days, but for the red ring of death its 3 years from date of purchase regardless if refurbed or not.

Its your money and your choice.

If you want to buy a RROD xbox go for it, and then fix it urself or send it back to microsoft.
