If you are using a m4 you are not going to use as much ammo as you would if you use the ak. The ak is good head shot wepon only for the first 2 shots. If you use a m4 you with a silencer you will surly win.

You can spray someone in the feet with an M4 and it'll hit them in the head.

I can burst at the head with an AK and not get anything to register.
 
I agree with exactly what Shadow said. Honestly M4 kind of unbalances the teams for T and CT in my opinion.

My favorite head shot weapon is the AK 47, but occasionally I use the M4.
 
I have been rocking the famas on CT lately
though my kill to head shot ratio is pretty even

as you can see its all about 50% for me.

and lastly the way i think about it
the CTs version of the AK47 is the Famas
and the Ts version of the m4 is the gali.
 
The ak one hits , M4 doesnt if the opposing enemy has armor, GG. Honestly ak> m4, but Thats my opinion.

you should use m4 for spraying and ak for burst. thats my thing. so thats why i have more hs on ak than m4...i think.

Plus you can have it on either team.

Famas all the way! Point and shoot with burst fire! Basically a headshot machine or a ton of chest shots will register lol. But at least you'll get the kill and not waste that much ammo.
 
It's all about preference when it comes to these weapons.
When I first started out, m4 was my favorite weapon (and it still is :p) because you just had to put the silencer on and spray like an animal.
Then when I tried the ak, I noticed its spray wasn't very accurate :/
When I finally got better at CS:S though, I found out that spraying isn't what I should be doing and that the ak is actually a great gun. 1 shot to the dome and their head will fall clean off their shoulders. Versus the m4 which does 84 or 89 in 1? Something around there.
But really both guns are great. Excellent range, good rate of fire, great power. Even if you hit someone in the head for 89 dmg it isn't something to cry about. All you have to do it hit them 1 more time for 11 dmg.

I like the m4 more cuz the silencer, but ak is good cuz its more powerful. So if you like ak more then just take the silencer off its pretty much the way thingy but lil weaker. Ak just takes aim to use. Ak = burst kill and M4 is like semi spray. Its 2 different gun.
