Alrite, so im planning to get Sprint because of how cheap the family data everything plan is. My mom gets USPS discount so its only like $118 a month for 1500 minutes and unlimited data etc..for 3 lines.

Im looking to get either the HTC HERO, Samsung Moment, Palm Pre, Blackberry Curve 8530

Im really leaning towards the HTC Hero but the things holding me back are, design somewhat (i like the GSM version better with chin), and the speed, the performance still lacks a bit even with updates. It has SENSE UI though which is amazing.

The Samsung Moment is a pretty nice looking phone, bit on the bulkier side, has a QWERTY keyboard even though i heard it isn't that good and is kinda awkward, AMOLED screen is beautiful. It has an 800mhz processor which is one of the fastest. The overall phone experience etc i heard is kinda a miss and the Hero is better.

Palm Pre, its really nice looking, qwerty keyboard, fast, multitasking. The OS is lacking compared to android, it has barely any apps.

Blackberry Curve 8530; it's great looking, BBM cuz all my friends have it and pretty much my whole school, messaging. Web browser lacks, screen lacks, hardware lacks though its not a problem for blackberry OS, multimedia purpose is lacking.

Which of these 4 would be the best?

Also, i heard sprint has a 30 day send back the phone for a new one kind of thing so thats nice. Im kind of wondering if i should wait for the new HTC Legend if it ever goes on Sprint, that phone is honestly the best looking phone i've ever seen, all aluminum, but still the hardware kind of lacks ie. the processor and such. Or maybe the rumored HTC Supersonic. I was thinking if those phones came out before the 30 days were up i would maybe pick one of them up.

Im also wondering, how many trade-ins do i get? If i trade one of the phones in, do i get another extended 30 day period to trade in the new phone? Or is it only 1 trade-in allowed, like after i trade one phone in, i can't trade the new one in and have to wait till an upgrade is available.

Basically, which phone from those 4 to pick, and my question on the 30 day trade-in program?

I like the HTc Hero the best. The Palm Pre is a nice phone but it is the most expensive of the 4. I'm planning on upgrading my phone, I also have sprint, Im looking at the Blackberry 8530 because right now sprint is having a deal where if you buy one you get a second one free after mail in rebates, so after ass the rebates for both phones you end up only paying $50 for 2 phones. My mom also wants a blackberry so this works out well for me.

The HTC Hero would be my overall pick though it has the best camera compared to the others, 5 megapixel, and the Andriod OS seems to be better then the other OS's right now.

Ive also heard some good things about the Palm Pixi, I looked at it yesterday and it is really nice, its basically a Palm Pre without the sliding.

I have had the HTC hero and the Palm Pixie as well as the black berry tour and the touch pro (1). Out of all of them the windows mobile touch pro did a lot but was laggy and was a pain to install things.
The black berry tour is really nice and quick, the only thing I did not like was the lack of touch screen I had my self touching the screen a lot to do things when I could not. Also it seemed to be incompatible with a lot of sites and tools.
The palm pre is nice as well, and ran smoothly, although the phone since its all based on the internet went slow at times and did not have a lot of apps when I had it, also it again had some compatibility issues.
The Hero is my current phone and does everything I could want it to, it has an app store called market and even has phone tracking applications that you can use on your computer, it is very customizable and very user friendly. For the samsung moment pretty much the same, I just liked the htc better for its look and the applications htc puts into their phones as well as htc sense, which allows for a lot of multitouch movements. Also the htc has flash support.

My choice would be to get the HTC hero or The samsung moment. Both run on the solid android OS that is constantly being updated and the updates are available for free right from the phone.

As for your questions about 30 days, you have 30s once you join sprint to cancel your contract with them, you also have 30 days to return the phone if you don't like it, and can get another phone of your choice, this goes on and on until the current phone you have runs out of 30 days. So if you return one phone on the 14th day and get another it restarts so you have another 30 days. This is only for the phone though the service contract is 30 days from activation.

Yea, HTC Hero is still looking out to be one of the best picks. Ehh i don't like the pixi compared to the Pre, the Pre is actually pretty gorgeous now that i look at it more closely.

I really want an HTC android phone like the HTC Desire, HTC Legend, HTC Supersonic but those don't seem to be coming out for a while and 2/3 are not even confirmed to come on Sprint.

It would probably be easier to choose the HTC Hero if you could overclock the processor, from what i've heard, the max you can overclock it is to 528mhz all the time which is the Spec clock.

Since the updates the hero runs really smoothly compared to when it first came out. I usually on a daily basis never receive lag, and if I do its only for like a second if there is any which is almost never. Also I don't know about the palm pre, but the HTC hero, Samsung Moment, and blackberry can all be used to tether the internet with your computer using pdanet.

Yea, i didn't mention tethering but its a great feature to have and i was definitely looking at it when researching the phones.

Seems like everyone on sprint that i ask which phone to get has an HTC Hero or wants to get one. I was thinking about Rooting the phone with a custom ROM so it runs faster, any evidence or anyone that has done it?

I tired once, It didn't work out well and I ended up going back to the original, also I could not get it to use the sense ui so it wasn't as good. Its definitely a lot easier to jail break an Iphone or Itouch than it is to root an android.

i think its easier now, there's an auto rooting program called pre-kitchen. Its still more difficult than the iPhone but its possibly worth it. The updated ones seem much better now with fully functioning everything.

Thats the website thats the best.

I have the Motorola Droid, so i can say that Android is really awsome. I've never had any of the others so i cant comment on them.

About tethering, check this out, it allows you to tether without rooting your phone, and its free:

I use it all the time, and its great.

My dad's work is cycling thru phones to find the best one for their company to use, so far they've used the Droid and Palm Pre.

I messed around with the palm pre and have to say it's pretty awesome. Not sure about the others though.

Yea the palm pre is pretty tempting right now. Good looks, fast processor, fast in general, qwerty keyboard, multitasking, amazing web browsing. The App catalog is coming along too from what i hear.

The only problem i have making me hesitate choosing the HTC Hero, is the looks is somewhat ugly (color choice was bad also). It can get pretty laggy even with the updates from what i hear, and just those little things here and there. I love Sense UI though and its probably one of the best looking things out there.

Maybe ill pick up a Palm Pre and overclock it's processor to like 800mhz hehehe

Then before 30 days, if a better HTC phone comes out with android.

I hear WebOS is coming along though, maybe ill learn to program some apps for it since thats somewhat the main reason i want to get either the WebOS or Android.

Edit:
Nvm, back to the Hero lol.......man so torn between the two. Leaning towards the Hero once again tho. PLEASE SPRINT, COME OUT WITH A BEASTLY HTC ANDROID DEVICE IN MARCH!!!
