Nvidia GTX 480 and 470 release date

Go figure, Charlie *expletive here* Demerjian was spouting lies again.

Like Nvidia has been saying for a while now, March. They are now certain enough to narrow it down to a date. I'm excited, but might wait for the next gen refresh at this point.

Thats excellent news. Now we need a real review before forking over $499 or $679 , whatever the prices were set at for each. Can't wait to see what people end up charging for em on ebay when stocks out. 5970's were close to $1000 at release when nobody else had em.

I read $700 for the 480
and
$500 for the 470

Source:
GTX 480 and GTX 470

I don't know how reliable this source is, but still. Meh.

I hope that isnt true. I want to get a new graphics card, and i dont have 800 bucks to shell out for a 480. If its around 500-550 though, I'll definitely get one.

Take any pricing rumors with a grain of salt. We won't know anything for sure until Nvidia announced pricing, which won't be until release day (maybe as much as a week earlier).

i just want it to drive down the prices of the current cards, so i can pick up a second 275

Amazing cards too bad I'm in the same boat and won't be able to afford them :/ guess I'll still be rocking my gtx 275 for a while :/

YEAHHHHHHH! screw you ati! whos king now :D

/hardcore nvidia fan :)

now i gott find 1100 dollars for sli set up :(

Nvidia just released drivers for the 300 series on there website, strange.

funny tho how they just skipped the 3 series for the desktop .... well hopefully the 4 series will be dx11 and not more then 500$

Sources say GF100 will have 512 cuda cores, anybody have any idea if this number is for the 470 or 480?

Man i hope they aren't $700 like the 5970 :(. If they are in a decent range i plan on upgrading my PSU and picking one up ( Nvidia is famous for needing so much wattage). As soon as prices are posted id like to hear about it.

just an update on the 480

whoa im super impressed that they improved the performance of dx11 technology over the 5870 with an added 6 months of development time......wait wait whaaaaaat??

instead of being impressed by these numbers, they should be expected, except it will still cost 550+ most likely 599-629 at release. (thats my estimation). now nvidia will claim the top because of their delayed release, until ATI releases another with added development time which will claim the top or perform just as good but for way cheaper

Unlikely, as rumor has it that the 6000 series will just be yet another shrink and double generation. It will take an entire architecture redesign to beat Fermi.
