ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Rescue crews responded to SeaWorld Orlando?s Shamu stadium after a trainer died in the killer whale tank.

Witness Victoria Biniak described the attack to WKMG, saying that the veteran trainer had just finished telling the audience about the show they were about to witness when the whale struck.

"The trainer was explaining different things about the whale ... and then the trainer that was down there walked away from the window ... and then Telly (the whale) took off really fast in the tank and he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing (her) around," Biniak told the station.

The Orange County Sheriff?s Office is also at the scene investigating. Investigators say a whale killed a female trainer around 2:00 p.m. est.

WKMG reported that the death was not the result of natural causes, citing Orange County Fire Rescue spokesman John Mulhall.

Eff you whale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CNN reported that it didnt happen during a performance though

it was during a live show
Guests were evacuated from the area, and the whale show was cancelled. The park is not shut down.

Orange County Fire Rescue personnel arrived on scene within five minutes of receiving a 911 call for an unknown medical condition just prior to 2 p.m., a spokesman said. The woman was dead when rescue officials arrived.

yeah, thanks for clearing that up! I thought all people killed by whales were natural deaths.

I'll be pissed if they do something to the whale though.. Can't fault the whale for that, no matter how much you train them they are still KILLER WHALES. Not puppies.

This happened in the Dallas Zoo, a Gorilla escaped and they killed it. I really hope this doesn't happen with the Orca.

We take the animal out of the wild and put it on display and make it do tricks. Wouldn't you snap if you were in this horse and pony show? Keep the animals in their natural habitat. I believe it is better to see them in their homes instead of in a giant fish tank. :chair:

If they do put them in a giant fish tank, atleast don't try and train them ;/

Funner to just sit and watch them anyway, and see what they do normally. Not doing tricks.

That must been one hell of a show.......i agree with Cut Chem!st Seaworld should be have giant tanks that replicate different parts of the worlds oceans and people can just sit and watch

The gorrilla was killed for protection of the people around not because he hurt someone... the orca couldnt hurt anyone else it could only get to the trainer so it better not be killed

What do people not understand? Nothing that is living and breathing wants to be taken into captivity, and used as a sideshow for a bunch of camera carrying tourists!

I'm not saying its totally wrong, most of our food is taken in for product, but these animals are going to attack you any chance they get.

Wow seriesly :crying: thats just sad.. 2 years ago i was there watching that show.. But as they all say: You can never tame a wild beast. Once its wild it will alwasy be wild.
