Ok so I have a pretty unique problem that I am hoping SOMEONE can help me with.

I have 4 HDDs in my system, all with a different OS on them. I used to use acronis to load the OS I wanted, but after my win 7 ult 32 instal, acronis was deleted. Here is my loadout.

320gb (WDC3200AAJS) - Win xp pro 32 SP2

Hitachi 250 GB - Win 7 ultimate 32 bit

OLD OLD OLD Maxtor 300gb IDE - OSX (Hackintosh)

500GB (WDC5000AAKS) - Ubuntu Ultimate 2.6 (basically Ubuntu 9.10)

Here is my problem. When I installed Windows 7, it overwrote the bootloader for Ubuntu, and deleted acronis off of my 500GB. Ubuntu is completely unaccessable to me now. If I go into the bios and select the boot priority for the hard drives, I can get into XP and OSX.

Here is the really messed up part, and the part that has me scratching my head. When i installed 7, I selected my unpartitioned 250 gb drive for the install. It did not write the bootloader to that drive. It overwrote the ubuntu boot loader ON ANOTHER DRIVE. If I unplug all of my drives excluding my win 7 drive, I get boot failure message, even though win 7 is on that drive. I REALLY do not want to reformat my ubuntu partition cause, as anyone who has used it knows, that is a major hassle to get set up. Not really hard, just tedious.

And for those wondering, I have storage drives as well, just didn't list them as they were not pertinent. (4 1TB in an ICY dock bay, no raid but on a raid controller card.)

Did you try the EasyBCD utility for Windows? It helped me when I had problems with my dual boot. It supports Windows, Linux, Mac, NeoGrub and WinPE entries.

Load into the ubuntu livecd, and install grub from there
