AT&T U-Verse

Hi,
Does anyone have this or know someone who does? Here's the link. I currently have comcast and I pay $25 a month for internet and around $115 for TV. I have 4 cable boxes and one is HD and DVR. Im wanting to see how this is because i'm wanting faster internet without having to upgrade to Comcast's $45 a month plan. So if anyone has any comments on this provider please comment.

Here's my current internet speed that's $25 a month.
 
With Comcast, a big part of your speed depends on how many neighbors you have. I have none so my connection is incredible. My girlfriend has that AT&T internet and she absolutely hates it. It's about the same speeds as that and she says it drops connection every other day if not more. Can't really say for myself though, I would never trade in for DSL.

Isn't Uverse Fiber not DSL?
 
Oh just saw that. They have commercials here all the time about their DSL, so I figured it was the same. Since it is Fiber you should try it out. Has your speed always been that low?
 
Ah, well the slowest U-verse is 3mbps, which is pretty decent for the price. After looking at reviews, people seem to like it and save an extra $60 a month.
 
You pay a lot for such a crappy internet no offense.

If you have fios in your area, you can get like triple-play which is phone, t.v, internet for like $99. Im gonna switch to Quad-Play probably like end of March and save another $15. Quad-Play is phone, t.v, internet, and Verizon Wireless.

Right now, we pay like a little over $99 for 25Mbs down, 20Mbs up, but thats because they gave us a free upgrade from 15Mbs down, 5Mbs up, when we upgraded the HD TV package. I think it was only $5 to add the special HD TV package and they gave us the free upgrade to 25Mbs, 20Mbs which is amazing.

Anyway, it's a gazillion times better than what you have and what your going to get and its like the same exact price if not cheaper.

Just need to see if u have it in ur area, possibly not.
 
One of my friends at work has UVerse. He says his internet isn't that fast (sorry, no numbers - he's not a gamer) and that his TV will lag on him and have lots of digital noise on occasion, especially when receiving calls.

They also don't support home alarm systems at this time since they can't do an auto disconnect of the phone line for some reason.

He does love being able to transfer a show he's watching from DVR anywhere in the house.

We're in the Indianapolis area. Depending on where you're at you may have better luck with them. I would try to find someone local who has it and have them run Speed Test to see what they're getting.

I live in Georgia so no FIOS over here. :/, also I'm not wanting home phone in the plan because we only use our cellphones and we don't need it.

Yea, then you could just do triple-play with t.v,internet,Verizon Wireless.

I was gonna get rid of phone line but it creates too many problems with the home alarm system so i figured it wasn't worth the $10-15 a month to get rid of it.

Heres my speeds on my Macbook Pro running off of wi-fi. Yea it's pretty far from the 25 down and 20 up i get on my gaming desktop which is connected via ethernet. But the connection still isn't bad for wi-fi. Im also like probably 3-4 bars out of 5. My gaming desktop is down because i had to RMA the ram kit i got so thats why i can't show you the true speeds i get. I also get like 9-10 ping via ethernet

 
I'm so jealous, I want Fios so bad but they don't have it in my area. I'd get 25 down 25 up, but only because the upload is faster than the 50 down plan. :( If The 'fastest' plan was 50 down, 25+ up, I would pay the price in a heart beat...

Uhh Verizon doesn't offer anything here. So no Verizon for me :/

FIOS is not available in his area....
 
Yea i know........sucks though. Fios is amazing haha.

I guess just go with whatever gives you the best price per performance in your area then.
 
My boyfriend has it, and the main problem that we've had is the customer service... They came and installed it, but failed to tell us that it was down at the time anyways... so we went through a lot of calling and being annoyed ><

Also... AT&T has been failing in customer service lately for me anyways with my cell phone...
 
I have their DSL and the service is less than reliable, Customer service is also joke as you rarely get someone in America who knows whats going on. However, I have to say when you do ask they will send out someone free of charge and they are usually friendly and helpful. From my friends who do have it they say its decent and works really well.
 
I have the Uverse Fiber line and I pay about $39 for 8 Mb/s Up 1.5 down. I don't get anywhere near that when I'm DLing. Quite annoying considering they said it would be a constant rate between 6-8 and I'm lucky if I get 3, sometimes 2.

All I can say is, give it a try. If you don't have to sign a contract (I didn't), then what do you have to lose?
 
I have AT&T u-verse and I must say I am very happy with it. Although we got a promotional price for the package Internet and Tv, because our family works for AT&T but I am extremely happy with the 25mbps speed. When we received it, we were RIGHT on the edge of the zone to qualify to have it. So the guys said we are kind of pushing it to have it but it should work fine. And it does! I recently have had multiple friends over, having My PC and 2 other PC's and 2 PS3's running all online and no real lag that we could tell. Of course we would get a lag spike every 25 mins or so but that would last for a second and a half. But overall, I'm happy with u-verse.

I must say though, regarding what Caffeine said, not being able to get up to the DL speed that your package is. With my 25mbps I have never seen it get that high, the highest I have seen it get was on that little test deal was around 13-15mbps. Right now i'm doing it and highest I can get is 9. But still pretty happy with that.
