Looking for some vid card recommendations

Hey all,

I am thinking about replacing my vid card in the near-ish future and am looking for some recommendations. Here is my current set up:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz
CPU Speed: 2.13 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.7275 GHz
Ram: 2GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor X1300/X1550
Video RAM 256.0 MB
Hardware T&L Yes
Pixel Shader version 3.0
Vertex Shader version 3.0

So I am looking for some recommendations for a new vid card. Current budget gives me roughly $150 to play with. Ideas?

Do you have a PCIe slot?

How many watts can your Powersupply output?

In that range, (if your PC can handle it) i would Look at a Radeon 5770

Then i would defintetly recomend an ATi 5770, or save some money and get something like a nVidia GTS 250

Even a Radeon 4850 would serve you well

for that much i would say a 9800gtx its about 130 or a or the 200 gts series ... but i would definately save up some more and get a psu with that a 550w or something a little more powerfull so it holds up

This is very true because I have a
xfx hd radeon 4850

The $30 extra is worth it because its faster and has hdmi ports which mines doesn't only s video that I can get to work correctly! but you can't fail with the 4850

Oh yea and you need a better power supply for video cards like these I have 650 watt no name psu if you want name brand psu you can go as low as 450 watt but that will be pushing it

Corsair HX650 is a great high quality PSU that will power just about any PC with a single graphics card.

Why not the 4870???
I don't know how much it is, when I got it it was 250 CAD a year ago, it's a bit better than the 4850.

But yeah, agree with these guys, you can't get a better budget card than the 4850!

Doesnt he have a 350w psu? I dont know about the 5770. I could be wrong.
