Hexcore Gulftown Chip

I still dont see how anyone can justify forking over 1400 dollars for a processor especially if they just upgraded to a quadcore AMD or Intel i7 chip. Not to mention is the performance upgrade really worth spending that kind of money after just buying an intel or amd chip? I guess there are people out there who need to have the latest and greatest or people who just like to overclock for fun but really theres no need for this at the moment in the gaming world...

That's like saying how can you justify buying a i7 975. They were around that price range when they first came out but people still buy them.

You kind of answered you're own question. It's ridiculous for gaming, but not for other tasks.

Just because YOU don't need that power, doesn't mean that others don't. And again, just because it's out of your price range, does not mean it is out of everyone elses price range.

It's all relative. What is big or too much? Driving for three hours seems pretty far, but what about going from London to New York, or Florida to the Moon?
