I recently purchased COD4 via Steam. It will not launch period....just sits there saying Preparing to launch blah blah blah

The loading dots go to 3, then to 1 and stays there.

Help me out here. Ive check all the steam fourms and nothing come in handy, and I really dont want to reinstall.

Ive got plenty to deal with, im sure its not an issue there...

5600+ AMD
8800GTX
4 GB RAM
Vista Ultimate

I believe those are the only things that would have an effect on the launch
 
you said you looked through the forums,... did you not find the crapton of articles that talk abotut his issue or are you saying that none of them helped?

U must reinstall. Get rid of vista too man that has to many problems to count
 
Naw vista should be fine. It is prolly something else. Just re update your drivers and reinstall and try it again.
 
Vista+games=Bad news + support in india that you cant understand (no offens just every country has accent)=Worse news
 
Frid. I have now seen on several occasions you post un topic related vista bashing. Please try to stay on topic.

As for your vista bashing itself, it seems obvious that you are not using Vista right now, and I suspect that you either have not used vista, or if indeed you did, it was for less than a month. Unfortunately I simply dont have time to discuss this more right now because of a large project I must work on (and I wont be going to sleep tonight).

For the aforementioned reason, and for interests of staying on topic, I will be posting a new thread tomarrow in the tech talk thread where we can debate away about it. untill then:

Matrix let us know how that worked out.
 
Maxtrix put an icon on your desktop for it. Right click and under compatablilty, make sure its runnin in service pack 3, as well as have it run as admin

what id do is contact steam but theymight just say the same stuff here but its worth a shot ;) it could be just a steam problem though
 
I guess i must explain. I upgraded to vista when it was new. SO i had all my games in ECT all my games happen to have a bug or somthing go weird in them. Like i dont know why just everything. This i why i am anti vista. Id rather have linux
