Random loss of drivers

Today when I turned on my computer and got to the desktop, my computer prompted me to search for drivers because "new hardware was found." I did not install any new hardware. I ran a dxdiag and it said I had no sound card drivers when last night they were clearly there. So I powered down and this time I wasn't prompted with the message. Ran the dxdiag again, and they were magically there. Now my computer is currently limping along as it is, i.e. mother board and vid card are shot. But I was wondering, would this type of "error" be from my mother board issues or is my sound card now starting to die? Thanks in advance for any help.

Sound card for referance: Creative Sound Blaster 2 ZS

I believe it is from your sound card.

Try reseating your sound card

While doing that, wouldn't hurt to use some compressed air to clean out the inside =) people seldom do.

If your motherboard is dying like you say, it might be stopping portions of your hardware at random times
