Improve my computer's performances

Hello guys,

I have a Mac book pro ( 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB memory, ATY Readeon 1600), a old one. Is there a way I can enhance its genral performances.
I know the best way would be to buy a Windows based computer, but that is currently not a possible option ;)

Any good tips?

In my opinion the best thing is not to buy a windows computer, but that is only my opinion. Anyway not much you can do because its a notebook, however you can buy more memory which always helps it can support up to 4gb with leopard and you can have more with 64-bit snow leopard (like 8gb). Also you can upgrade the Harddrive to an SSD. You could also start from scratch by erasing the drive.
 
ya a reinstall usually can help thing out also if your currently on 10.5 upgrade to 10.6 runs a bit smoother.

and ram cheap and it can make a huge difference.

RAM is dirt cheap and easy to get these days
 
I don't know many things about MAC but you can improve your computer's performance by making a clean with the CCleaner.This program deletes any unused cookies or files and it even
frees disk space.The last time I did it I had 15GB of unused programs files and cookies deleted:O
I was like OMG.A defrag could work as well.It's something like a disk defragmentation very useful and it will definetly make your computer run faster.

Try them both for a better result
I hope this works for MAC because they will definitely improve your system's performance;)

this programs only fix issues that are unique to windows, mac and linux filesystems don't need defrags and neither one uses a registry like windows.

so linux and mac will never get slowed down with that kinda crap to begin with.
 
Alright, Thanks for the good tips, I still don't know what i'm going to do, but I'll see when I really can't play anymore.

1. Reinstall
2. Install good degrag tool.
3. steam
4. chrome

ur all set

and if u can get ur hands on ESET NOD32 for anti virus.

and theres always overclocking :P
 
Yeah, I'll probably re-install Mac OSX (snow), if you think that would help. This way I don't have to spend money.
 
its really hard to upgrade performance on laptops, netbooks and w.e

basically what you buy is what your guna get and your stuff with it.

you can tweak certain things but it usually makes a minimal difference, unless your comp is full of viruses and you clean it up (which i doubt cause you have a mac lol)

i think some of these other ideas other people posted might help you a little though :)
