So, for a while now my dad has been locking me out of the internet after 8:00PM Central US time (GMT -6). I know he uses the router, and enters the MAC address to disable it for my computer. I also know that one "shift" runs from 8PM-12AM, and the other from 12AM-8AM. At the moment the 12-8 isn't working (thank God) but the 8-12 is. I've tried changing (spoofing) my MAC, but my Intel driver won't allow me to change it, even on my admin account. I've also tried the change it in the registry, but yet again to no avail.

Now, for my computer's networking specs:

Toshiba Satellite L305

Windows Vista Home Premium x64
Ethernet Driver: Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)
Wireless Driver: Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN
Bluetooth DOES NOT WORK

*There is something after L305, but I don't know how to find it. O_o

Don't know if a simple driver download can fix this, or what...
That should be it, thanks for anyone's help...I appreciate it.

If I do that I can't use voice, I have to use the wireless in my room...

Or else I'll get busted. O_o

My parents think I shouldn't get on after 8pm on school nights, need my rest, blah, blah, blah. If I go to sleep at 2 I'm fine when I wake up at 6.

maybe you should just listen to your parents?

Plus, every time you go against your parents word is just another thing to add on to being rebellious. Which won't equal out to anything good.. trust me, rebellion isn't as fun as you think it is. First its your parents, then its the law. I know from experience, and it is NOT fun. It may be at the time, but the aftermath is what you really have to deal with.

You have good points, and I believe you, but I am not out to rebel. I'm out to have fun when I can't sleep.

Why don't you change the password on the router and claim you don't know what happened?

lol..

On school nights, you don't need to be up until 2am then sleeping 4 hours. It's not healthy for your body, eyes, or anything.

Just listen to your parents and sleep at a decent time. I spent a month on minimal sleep last year, and my marks dropped horribly. I stopped staying up late then

You should be happy you can even start going to bed at 8, I have ROTC practice until 6 and then go to help with the local Boy Scout Troop, or I go to my Civil Air Patrol Squadron. If I am not doing that I am helping someone or working. I get home around 10:30-11 and don't get to the bed until like 12....then wake up at 5:30, then repeat the next day. You really should be happy that your parents care enough that you get enough sleep. So yeah made this about me, but I still proved my point, I would help you but it is probably best you don't work around your parents block.

I suggest you come up with some good arguments and politely ask your parents if you can use then internet until 10:00 PM. If you have reasonable arguments then they might let you. Later on, maybe a month or six, you could ask for 11:00... This way you don't lose the trust of your parents. :)

take the sleep

well i wish i could take the sleep but i was stuck doing a week of 18 hour days for the ecma's

Press the reset button on the router and clear all settings!

This is probably your best bet. From there, you can set the password to whatever you want and basically lock your parents out from there... until they find out and reset the router back to what it was.

I'm NOT condoning what you're trying to do though. You should always listen to and obey your parents rules. Trying to break out from them is a bad idea, and there could be dire consequences for your actions if you get caught (like not being able to get on at all). Also since you're 13 (almost 14), your school work and sleep are top priorities, and gaming should never go over that.

See if you can work out a deal so this is relaxed on friday and saturday nights or something to that effect. I think going over their head is the wrong decision.

...sorry buddy, I think your best bet is to just listen to your parents. They sound like good, intelligent people. Not every parent has the intelligence to maintain a healthy lifestyle for their kids AND know how to block their sons computer from accessing the Internet during nighttime hours. Christ I wish more parents were like that these days.

My parents were not smart enough to set up our router in such a manner. And while they did tell me I was being unhealthy, well...I was unhealthy to a point of a not-so-stable mentality. Some of the older eGO members around here can probably tell you that much.

I am now married, and usually get at least a solid 6-8 hours. Sometimes more if I'm super comfy and lucky enough to have the time. And I'm a much healthier person as a result. I don't get in as much gaming, but I also don't get as many headaches, and I'm not in the hospital.

Perhaps studying? It will help you to sleep, yes?

I gotta agree with everyone else your parents know best bud ;)

Yea the knowledge is there but fighting the people that control the space in which you live is ill-advised. Sorry
