Looking at SSD 32GB - Patriot 2.5" - Price $79.97 CAN.
Good deal or bad deal
Just something to run my windows 7 and operating systems.

pretty pricey when you consider the average mp3 player has more storage than 32gb.

what kinda of harddrives do you already have a raid 0 solution might give you close to the same speed but with a lower cost per gb for it.

and personally if i did go with a ssd i would go with a Intel or OCZ one, intel has already proven them selfs with the fastest ssd;s and OCZ has fast good quailty ones and are proven when you consider they are based on the same tech tat OCZ uses for the ram.

I don't think this drive has TRIM support. Get a SSD with TRIM. Even with garbage collection or wear-leveling systems, drives without TRIM tend to lose performance over time.

Intel and (newer) OCZ drives are some of the best consumer SSDs available today. Since you're spending money for a drive in any case, might as well spend some more and get the best. An Intel 80GB with TRIM will set you back US$200 (or cheaper with a good deal) but it'll be worth every penny.

Here is a recent article about SSDs in today's market: http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=3747

Hey Razor,

Like NCA said, make sure you get a drive with TRIM support. Crucial and Western Digital make good SSD's. 32GB isn't enough these days. With Windows 7, and a couple Steam games you will be over 32GB. 64GB and up is a safe bet.

P.S As for TRIM support, it's a matter of Firmware. I'm sure in the near furure, most if not all SSD's will have TRIM support.
