Tips and Tricks: How Not To Fail At Battlefield: Bad Company 2

by GumBa11Machine
Now that Bad Company 2 is out, Battlefield veterans get to come to a whole new experience with a little old school thrown in. But it's also chalk full of Modern warfare 2 masters that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. This guide is to further help you in your game play and teamwork within Bad Company 2.
Part One: Classes
Most of you by now know that Assault drops ammo, Engineer has the rocket, Medic has the support weapon and drops med-packs/has the defibs, and recon is the "sniper". But there is more to each class then meets the eye.
Assault
Make good use of the 40MM grenade launcher. You may feel like a jerk by using it but it is devastating to the enemy and enemy emplacements. Use it to blow holes in the walls of buildings exposing your enemy to your buddys so they can light them up.Throw down ammo in large groups of friendlys, don't just throw it down for yourself. Sure you will get more ammo but no points. Remember your get +10 points for every ammo resupply and +20 points for every squad resupply.
Don't go full auto. Use burst fire. Going full auto is a sure fire way to get yourself killed or just plain miss every round. Burst fire is your best friend. Remember to engage people from medium to short distances it will make you more effective.
Once you get the C4 for the assault class use it! C4 can be used in many different ways from jihading an ATV to sneaking up on a tank and giving it a new hole to climb through.
Engineer
It is always a good idea to carry a tracer dart gun on this class. Unless you're using the AT4 you can't really guide your rockets unless you're a master at the games physics. Once you get the M2 Carl Gustav Anti-Armor Recoilless Rifle use it. It is way better then the RPG. With the Gustav you can take down a chopper much more easily due to the fact that this rocket travels straight. It is also a great anti-infantry weapon. A good specialization to use is the is the extra rockets and C4.
When trying to shoot down a chopper remember to lead it off and try to guess where it will fly next. This is where your tracer dart comes in handy, if your bad at leading off a chopper then try to get a dart on it. You get +20 points for the stick and if someone on your team takes it down you get another +20 points for a tracer dart assist.
Repair! Repair! Repair! that's why you have the drill. Use it to repair tanks that are low on health.
Medic
This class is pretty straight forward. Throw down your medic kits in large groups of frendlys and revive any that fall.Once you unlock the M60 use it. This weapon will take down an enemy pretty fast. Remember to burst fire. It's even more vital to do it with a support weapon then assault. If you do it right you can take someone down all the way across the map.
Recon
Most of you think sniper when you see recon. When this is slightly true there are many other uses to recon then to just snipe. Once you unlock the M1A1 Thompson you can use the recon class as an assault class. Use the mortar strike to take down buildings and kill bunched up enemies. Use the C4 to place on a tank and calmly walk away and make another pretty explosion to go along with the others. If you are going to snipe remember unlike most games gravity effects your bullets. Depending on your distance aim slightly above their head for the headshot or to hit them center mass.Part 2: Piloting
Flying is a big part of Battlefield games. Some people are natural pilots others not so much. Regardless being a great pilot takes lots of practice. If you need to go into an empty server and fly by yourself till your confident you can fly with rockets and bullets flying at you and give it a try in a populated server.
If you don't know how to fly don't do it in a populated server. Not only are you going to make your whole team mad and make the other team laugh at you your going to waste a precious asset that someone could of used to decimate the other team.
The Blackhawk
Some people say this helicopter is useless. In the hands of the right people a Blackhawk can be a battlefield nuisance.
When flying a Blackhawk remember not to hover and not to fly to close to the ground. The higher you fly the harder it is for a engineer to judge your distance and hit you with a rocket. Orbiting the area of battle along with flying high and fast is a sure fire way to keep you and your gunners alive. You can also act as a moving spawn point for your squad.
Don't get in a Blackhawk and just use it to fly somewhere and bail out. Again you just wasted a precious asset that takes time to respawn.
The Apache
Attack helicopters are no doubt the most useful things on the battlefield. When in the right hands they become unstoppable. When flying an Apache you are substantially harder to hit then a Blackhawk. Make use of your rockets by shooting at tanks and other helicopters while your gunner should concentrate on infantry.
The UAV-1
Most people when they hear UAV they think of the predator drone. In Bad Company 2 it's a remote controlled helicopter of awesomeness.
First off don't fly close to the battle with the UAV. Sit tight behind your team and pick off tanks and gun emplacements from a distance. A must have for the UAV is the V Optics specialization. You can zoom in from long distances and bring down a missile on top of a unlucky recons head.
Remember the UAV takes some time to reload so after firing drop altitude and sit tight and wait.
MI-24 Hind
This helicopter is the Russian Blackhawk. It is meant to serve the same propose and the same tactics apply except there is only one gun. This one gun packs one powerful punch. Make sure before you fly this helicopter that you have one good gunner.
MI-28 Havoc
Not much to say about this. Same tactics apply as for the Apache.
Part 3: Vehicles
Vehicles have played a big part in every Battlefield game. In Battlefield 1942 with the Tiger Tank to the M1 Abrams in Battlefield 2 tanks seem to dominate the ground war. The heavy vehicles on both the USA and Russian Army act pretty much the same so I'm only going to cover the USA heavy vehicles. The HMMVW, Vodnik 4WD, Cobra 4WD are just troop transport.
M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank
There are two main strategies for tanks in general.
First: The Rush strategy - Get in behind the enemy position and throw rounds in their back. It's a good idea to have an engineer committed to making sure your behind is clear and your tank is running.
Second: The "Artillery" strategy - For those of you who played Battlefield 2142 you might be familiar with this tactic. You sit back on a high hill or something along the lines of that and act as Artillery bringing rounds down on the enemies heads.
M3A3 Bradley
The Bradley is a good anti-air/anti-infantry tank. Although it is ultimately useless against a T-90. You can really give the enemy a headache with this asset.
The ATV(Quad Bike)
This little bundle of joy is not only fun to drive but can be very useful. As a recon class with C4(or assault with it unlocked) you can turn it into a ATV full of explosives and drive it right into a group of enemies or a tank and give them something else to think about. You can also use it to take you and one other squad mate behind the enemy and act as spawn points for your other two squad mates and make the enemy think twice about what's going on behind them.
Part 4a: Teamwork Strategies
First for those of you who don't play hardcore SPOT SPOT SPOT SPOT SPOT that means hit the Q button. Not only does your guy scream "HEY THERES A NUB IN THE BUSHES!" you also get a red triangle over his head that your whole team can see making it easy for a tank or a sniper to pick him off. When in the UAV hit Q all the time! It won't only spot one person like if you were on foot. It will spot anyone close to the person you originally wanted to spot. Spotting is vital to teamwork and you can really save the game for your team by simply hitting Q.
Work together this isn't Call Of Duty you can't run and gun. There is teamwork involved. Talk to each other get in ventrilo and talk to each other. Set up your squad so it works like a factory. That means one person is a recon, another person is assault feeding ammo to the squad, another person is a medic sitting somewhat behind the squad to revive and heal them, and the other is an engineer(if the map calls for it) to take out tanks and helicopters and large groups of enemies.
Part 4b: Game Mode Strategies
Rush
Rush
Rush is by far the most popular game mode. When playing rush you're not playing team death match. That means when you see the blinking blue box on your screen run there clear it and defuse the M-CON station.
To many times have I seen ten snipers sitting on a hill shooting the defenders. This is NOT how you play attackers. This makes for a boring game and your team will lose once your tickets reach zero.
If the M-CON station is in a building that can be taken down blow up the building. It destroys the M-CON station and any enemies inside it getting you a Destruction 2.0 kill which always feels great.
Conquest
Not hard to play, Capture points and defend them. Blow stuff up and kill people till the enemy tickets run down to zero.
Squad Rush(game stop pre-orders only) and Squad Team Death Match Soon To Come
Hope this helped. If i missed anything send me a PM and i will be happy to add it.
