Need some help building a new computer

Well, i have a piece of trash computer so I'm planning on buying one this weekend possibly. I know some of you probably are awesome at PC's and i would like to request somebody to post a "example PC" such as all parts and their prices. If this is too much to ask thats fine. Please make it under a budget of say oh i dont know 500-700$?


I DO NOT KNOW A SINGLE THING ABOUT PC'S I ONLY KNOW I HAVE A 8500GT AND IT ONLY GETS 30-50 FPS ON A PACKED MAP OF MORE THAN 30 PLAYERS

The more powerful your computer, the faster it can spit out pictures.

Well, since your need a OS, I can assume you don't have a copy already. So taking $100 off for that, your system will be around $600 max.

Newegg is pretty damn big, but if you're not in the US there are other stores that offer better prices usually.

idk i trust newegg even if someone beats their prices they usually can't beat there shipping prices and customer service i usually get things early from them and have yet to receive any faulty products

Source games eat CPU speed up like no tomorrow. A strong CPU paired with an average GPU (say 9600-9800 Geforce cards or 3870, 4650, etc) will net you a solid FPS. A Pentium E6300 + a 5650 would own source games.

I would avoid OCZ brand PSUs for a while. Lately their units have been really poor quality, and die far too often. (Note the large amount of recertified sales lately) As a rule of thumb, avoid cheap units, especially cheap modular units, unless they're from big brands heavily marked down or going on clearance. In this range, I'd go for a Corsair unit like this:

Other good brands for the 80usd and up range are Enermax, PC Power and Cooling, Silverstone, XFX, and some Antec units. Obviously there are more, but these are the best ones I can think of at the moment.
