I would like to buy some new headphones (or headset, I should have put),
mainly for music, so bass is good!
and no, a mic is not a necessity, but sound quality and comfort are.
Only requirements are that I would prefer 3.5mm connection over USB,
and circumaural, too.
Nothing too terribly expensive.

Ive had these since X-mas time. Work great, The bass works up to 150k HZ - 8k HZ which is pretty good. Has a attachable/detachable mike. and can get quite loud if turned up all the way. I got mine from newegg for 30 bucks I think? it was 50 $ but they had a sale. Best headphones EVAR (for 30 Monies dat is)

this is a pretty good test for testing Bass

O_O That bass is so epic sounding.
Nice vid.

But I would like a nicer (no offense) headset

JVC HARX700

One of the best headphones for the price. There are no fancy gadgets, no flimsy designs, just excellent sound with no gimicks. Great separation, and excellent soundstage. If you google the headphones they are universally loved. Why buy a cheap headset which will break within a year or buy expensive headsets which provide inferior sound for the price.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-High-Grade-Full-Size-Headphone/dp/B0013OWPV4/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_a"]$35 for these bad boys[/ame] or [ame="http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX900-High-Grade-Full-Size-Headphone/dp/B0013P3ZOE/ref=pd_cp_e_1"] spend $20 more[/ame] for an upgrade in sound and padding.

Add the zalman mic for $15 and you will one of the best bang for the buck headphone and mic combos. In reviews they are comparing it to a $200 pair of headphones.

Wouldn't I need a headphone amp for those, too?
Links to one of those, as well, please.

if your just linking it directly to any line level source you dont need a amp for them

I don't think I has one o them.
If I plug it into the audio jack on my computer, or into my Zune, wouldn't I need an amp for that?

Damn, I've been looking to buy AKGs somewhere in Canada but I can't find a retailer.

Had these for a year now, I use them for making/listening to music, and they have a great bass response that doesn't muddy up everything else, and they don't color the sound up so what you hear is pretty faithful to the original.

your computer or zune already outputs to line level in a 1/8th inch jack which is the standard headphone jack.

ya i couldn't really help you there i just put a few orders for my own stuff in when terry gets new gear for the studio.

Try head-fi.org

That's where I bought my AKG K701s from. Met a guy selling it in Ontario and I was off and running. Also it's good to figure out if you want to buy an amp for those AKGs or if you are looking for portability maybe you should invest in a better quality non-amp headphones.

Beyerdynamic DT 770

AMAZING
You dont need an amp to run them... hope your music is in lossless format, bc with these, you will be able to hear the compression if you ripped them poorly...

Most bass-laden headphones and still has amazing accuracy with mids and highs
