PS3: Random Crashing

[CroutonsofDeath{RD}]

I got a PS3 a few months ago and for the most part, the thing works fine and ain't bad (Though I wish it had user friendly settings >__>) but it likes to crash randomly. I've never had a console crash as much or in such an unpredictable pattern, in fact my 360 and my PS2/Xbox 1 never crashed a single time. It just "happens," it might happen 5 minutes into a game it might happen in 6 hours or not at all.. until the next day. My friend and my cousins both say this is "normal" for a PS3 and that both their PS3s constantly crash like this too. Whether this is "normal" or not, is there anything I can do to fix them? And if it is 'normal,' what went wrong over at Sony :glare:

It does have the latest firmware updates. It is a 120 GB slim.
