Bad internet problems. Could be my computer?

hey all. So yesterday, my internet was working very poorly. I would launch it and it would take forever to onnect to links and for pages to load. Also, sometimes it would give me the "not connected" page, requiring me to refresh the page. While playing WoW, I was continually disconnected from the servers for no apparant reason.

On a side note, My WoW folder is gone. I can still launch it and stuff, but all the folders are missing somewhere. I can't find them when I search WoW. Just links.

Any help for both of these issues?

You could try rebooting your modem and/or router (if you have one). If that doesn't help you should cal your service provider to see if they know what it might be slow.

As for your WoW folder (or lack of), I guess that it might be hidden? If you have a shortcut for WoW you could right click it and find out where it is linking to. Then go there and look for the .exe file.

Okay. Ill try resetting. For the WoW link, I click it and open it's file location, but all that is with it is links to billing, account, read me, repair, unistall, and the WoW game links. No folders! And I never told the folder to be hidden...

As for internet, it could definitely be the router. Don't know if resetting or unplugging and rebooting helped or not, but hey. I've never heard of folders just disappearing, could they have somehow been moved to temporary files? I don't know...

If the internet was slow in-game, I'd try slowing your rate. Also, do you know of any problems or outages with your ISP? Could be their fault too.

Well, had to buy a new modem. It's working now.

But my WoW files are still gone, and now my steam files are messed up! I can't access my CSS file- just the game. This is the same issue with WoW. What's going on?!

Scan your computer for infections. Some of the programs I use, which work fairly well.
ComboFix.
HijackThis.
Avast! Internet Scanner or if you don't already have an AVS, you can try Avast! Home 5.
Norton! File In-sight.
Ad-Aware Pro(Home works just as well.)
Malware Bytes.

Often then not, infection presence indicates by changing system settings you normally wouldn't, which is what it sounds like here.

For an easy fix without scanning, if it's "hidden", try going to folder options and checking "Show all hidden files, including system and/or operating files". However, I heavily recommend you scan your computer instead or do both.

When you navigate within Explorer, if it's transparent a little, that means it's hidden.

If you decide to run HiJackThis, please click the button "Scan and save log", when it is completed please dump all information here that's gonna be within the .txt file. Do not attempt to "fix" problems yourself unless you are fully aware of the changes that'll occur.
