As many people know, the Starcraft II beta version has been out for about a month now, and only a few lucky people have had the chance to participate in this beta. Although I did not receive a beta key, I have been able to experience the awesome graphics and unique gameplay of SC2 by watching videos from HDstarcraft on Youtube. If you're in the same boat as me (the failboat), go to HD's channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/HDstarcraft and subscribe. Now that he's done with his college finals, he'll be recording and commentating many more games of Starcraft II, most likely at least one game daily, for his viewers to enjoy.
For those who have played the original Starcraft, you may be thinking that nothing could be better than the balance, style, and unique gameplay methods of the first game. It is true that Starcraft was the best thing since sliced bread (next to the waffle iron, of course), but it's sequel will not only provide new plotlines and units, but it will also maintain the unique quality that makes Starcraft the best game out there.
Personally, I'm not sure how Starcraft II will do in the professional community--the first game is practically the national sport in Korea--but that's why Blizzard is trying to get constructive feedback from the beta testers. One awesome thing about HDstarcraft is that he can provide Blizzard with feedback based on his own experiences with the beta in addition to the feedback that all of his viewers provide. Needless to say, if you want to have a more active role in the development of this game, subscribe to HDstarcraft and leave some comments.
For those who don't care about the beta and are waiting, painfully, for the full version to come out, ease some of the pain by watching his videos. His occasional jokes will make you smile on the inside, and watching Hydralisks tear through armies will make you smile on the outside. Stop waiting!
