Put your rifleman advice HERE!

I know someone who had to play against bobson in competitive dod. He said it was pretty much his team vs bobson, and they still lost.

For me though, he's just too far ahead of me for me to even try to learn. His aim in impeccable, speed is insane, he almost never misses shots that whole video.

You don't really need to zoom in with the gun. Just use the cross-hairs/dot.
The gun is very accurate without zooming in.

Try and aim chest/head area (center mass) to make sure you get those "One shot, one kill."

Last but not least is ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS stop for a split second when you fire to make sure that your shot is going to go where you aim at.

Dead on, but its also about tactics too. You need to learn to setup up shots too, if your using the garand for example, you want to learn how to counter recoil( When you fire, the amount of time it takes to reapply your cross hairs on the targets chest) and MOVEMENT MOVEMENT MOVEMENT, that is by far the easiest thing to learn, but without timing, its meaningless. Go with dynamic crosshairs, you will notice when you stop you will see the cross hairs closing in. thats when you fire, start your movement until you reapply your cross hairs and fire again, rinse and repeat. You will notice the closer you are to a target the less time is need for your cross hairs to close in. It takes patience and practice. Good luck!

dynamic crosshairs are good for learning when your strafe has ended and your seeing if your crosshair has settled, but I think the industry standard for good riflemen is some variation of a static dot. You use one of those when you're comfortable with your strafing and can realize at what point your aim is steady after moving.

Course I'm not saying you can't be a good rifleman without using a static dot, but most of the better ones seem to use it, do you agree?

I can use a static dot, but I prefer the dynamic. I find sometimes that my timing is sloppy and my shots go off about a foot to where I intend them to go. I just use dynamic because im comfortable. But everybody is different, I mean yea you can learn from the pros...its what I did 6 odd years ago in the first Day of defeat, but in the long run you wanna learn the hard way. Because then you learn how to apply each skill that you get, but like I said everyone is different. And you would probably save large amounts of time watching other good players too.
 
I use the small circle crosshair and set it to minimum size, and put it to some color I wouldn't see on the map like bright purple so it shows up easily, but also is too small to block my view. I'm no pro, but it's worked so far...
 
My Advice

Whether or not you are Axis or Allies as a Rifleman you must use the peek technique. Peek around corners by strafing and then spray! Thats all i have to say.

Spray? With a Kar98k? Last time I checked it was a bolt action rifle with 5 rounds in a clip :glare:

It seems normal to Spencer cause he has some flow problems he needs to see his doctor about...

I make it a general rule not to take rifle advice from people who try to pray-n-spray with it (or who just recently cracked the Top 5,000). :cool:
 
Great advice on this. This is my favorite class and I rush (so hooray for having pistols again btw).

I personally find having the dot for my cross hair helps and its pink so it stands out. lol.

So yeah, like everyone said, lots of strafing and I don't think - I just shoot. If it moves, stop it.
 
Well, don't look at my score with this rifle now, but from experience with the K98 (i dont do allies) I go with the NEVER stop moving technique. You run sideways and aim as you run. I used to pwn with this weapon back before i stopped playing and this is how i did it.

Run, aim on the run, shoot (dont stop running), run the other way (preferably to hide behind something. if you stop running i find that you die fairly quickly.

My crosshair has always been the circle no bigger than o <---that. In the end though, i think this weapon just takes practice.

Yes that would work but your bullet is going to fly in every direction. It helps a alot just to stop for a split second before you fire so the bullet will always go where you are aim at.

The better you get at the stop, fire, move. The better you will be at the rifle class. You will get to the point it looks like you are not stopping at all when firing.
 
If i am moving to the right i scroll left to stay on the spot i want to shoot at then as soon as i start moving the other way, that split second in which the transition of direction occurs is your window for taking that shot.

Give me 4 weeks to get my skills back (haha!) and I will update here on how the technique works out.

Wouldn't that technique get a little hard to pull off if the other guy moved too? And I agree with ChocolateVillain, I think it's not as hard a shot to make if you stand still right when you shoot.
 
Well, I just wanted to give my opinion on the matter. It is what used to work for me back in the day. Although I will try that stopping technique cause I'm at a 3death 1kill ratio now hahaha.
