CSS Audio

Im having a minor problem with CSS audio, where the setting ALWAYS defaults to 2 speakers, instead of headset.
I need to manually change the setting each and every time i launch CSS, which is very annoying and most of the time i forget about it, and it does affect my sound quality pretty significantly.
I have no commands in my autoexec that reset the settings, or anything in the properties that would suggest such a default start up.
Does anybody know what i can do so that the change sticks? I want the default to be the headset...is it because of a windows setting somewhere?

I had this problem, too.

Please list your operating system.

OK.

Well, when you un plug/plug in audio parts in Windows 7, sometimes it'll come up as a "digital audio", that's it.

Which looks like a box.

Right click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Playback Devices > Set the default to whatever you want.

so my options are ATI HDMI output, speakers, digital audio (s/pdif) and digital audio HDMI
however when i test both digital audio things, i don't hear any sound...thus not being my headset
