Ubuntu server bandwidth monitoring

I'm not even sure if this is called bandwidth monitoring or what, but I'm renting a VPS server and they have a chart that updates daily on how much bandwidth I'm using. However, I'd like a more detailed view of where my bandwidth is going. I'm running the following servers:

Apache
MySQL
TF2
Icecast (not 24/7, just a few times a week)

and I'm also seeding some torrents (legal, don't worry. Ubuntu distros.)

Basically I want to keep an eye on how much the TF2 server is using, I guess, because I know Apache and MySQL aren't using much, and neither is Icecast. I tried installing Cacti but I couldn't figure it out. I'm not very adept at networking stuff. I tried running Darkstat but that didn't show anything.

I also have three network interfaces (using webmin):
lo (127.0.0.1), venet0 (127.0.0.1), and venet0:0 (external ip address)
I'm guessing I need to monitor venet0:0 but I could be wrong since I'm a n00b.

Any help would be appreciated.

------------

Update: I set up iptables to log incoming and outgoing TCP and UDP of the port the TF2
server is on. Whether this is the best way to go or not, I don't know. I could use a iptables log parser (I'm looking for one now) because iptables -L -v creeps me out.

venet0:0 would be the one you want to moniter, and also what torrent app

is a command line program or does it have a webinterface like torrent-flux or wtorrent

wireshark is good for traffic monitoring.. I know you can use yellowdog to get it in fedora-based distros, but you can try apt-get on it

Yes. I could install a GUI but I don't want to use the RAM.

I'm using Transmission. It has a web interface. I couldn't get Torrent flux working.

Most of the monitoring tools like Cacti, Nagios, Zenoss, etc will only show you throughput or transfer per interface because they're only pulling data for the interface, not the service or application.

Here's a link with some examples of traffic analyzers that might give you the data you want.

If I can remember tomorrow, I'll try to ask around at work for any other recommendations.

So far I think using iptables to log works the best, but I could use a program that would parse the log file into something more easily readable.

Thanks to all who've offered help.
