Recently I have been trying to connect to the eGO vent server, but for some reason my client stalls on "Synchronizing" No idea why, i have forwarded the port for the EGO server on my router, but that is it. I have tried restarting my computer, running vent in compatibility mode with windows vista, (I am running windows 7 64 bit ultimate) and tried running as administrator, no idea what to do.

Can you please list ALL ports that you've forwarded in the instance of Ventrilo?

Thanks,
Ric.

The only port I have open for ventrilo is 29272 for the EGO server. I was under the impression that was all I needed to open on my router.

Try forwarding these ports and try again:
-Port 5000 open for UDP.
-Port 6100 open for UDP.

Warning: These expose your ports to the internet, thusly allowing communication between programs. You understand that opening these ports is your own decision and I/eGO am/are not responsible for any type of damage that probably won't, but still has the chance to occur.

If it does not fix your problem, please let me know.

Before doing that please either uninstall Ventrilo and reinstall it or confirm you've done this already.

So far I've ruled out any complications between you and eGO because I run the same OS and I am not having a problem nor did I have to forward any ports to connect, either.

My job is to figure out where the problem is.
Detailed information is helpful, too.

Hope it helps,
Ric.

Back on topic, you shoudn't need to forward any ports, I run the same OS with no issues, make sure Windows Firewall isn't blocking it.

Some Firewall applications block incoming communication from programs if you don't whitelist them.

Can you also tell us what kind of firewall you have running?

Waittt do I really need to foward them? Can I not have them on stealth or have them set to not let data in unless I send data out?

It is just a quick solution I have came up with.

If there is malicious transmissions incoming from that port, your Firewall/AVS should still alert you/block it.

I'm just saying it will be visible via nMap or any other type of security tool.

Again, please list your Firewall so I can better serve you.

Thanks,
Ric.

Worked, assumed i could get away with just the listed port in EGO vent info. Thank you for those that helped!
