New CPU heatsink, opinions?

So, since I've had recent success of unlocking my AMD Phenom II from an x3 to an x4, I've been dying to get a new heatsink to keep this thing from blowing up.

This one caught my eye because it's huge and the price is surprising low.

Or, the popular Hyper 212. But seeing how the price is almost the same it would seem the first one would be a better buy.

Any other options? The budget would be around $50. Also, pairing with OCZ Freeze.
 
I'd say the hyper 212, but the other one may be better. All I know on this matter is that the hyper 212+ is supposed to do just a phenomenal job at cooling cpu's for how inexpensive it is.
 
Hey, if you can save up about $30 more get a Coolit Systems Domino CPU Water Cooling System. The thing is the best option for overclocking.

I got one and it's been awesome. Much cooler than any air cooler I could ever get.

I like the Corsair H50, i am using very nice keeps system cool up to 4Ghz and under $100 for water cooling

Coolit systems can make some very good products (tec units) and some bad ones. The Coolit Domino works pretty well, but many people have had the pipes on their units burst or leak badly. To me, that doesn't seem worth the 50 or 60 bucks they cost. They have released a new generation of "closed loop" watercooling units, you may want to look into those though. The h50 also works very well, (I can vouch for it), as long as your willing to shell out the 60-80 bucks for it.
 
I put the Hyper 212 + in my office rig mounted on an i3 530 @ 4ghz . It is a bit cold in the office this morning, but right now with a constant 6 % load im idling at 22c load at 45c. Paid $24 for this thing. Love it just for that. Best cooler- FOR THE MONEY .
 
Get the Hyper212, i think you'll see better results from it
 
I use the Hyper 212+ with push pulls Xiggy fans, it works great! With my Q6600 at 3.6 I'm sitting at ~35C idle, ambient temps are ~23C.
 
If you're willing to spend $50, throw in another $10 and get a TRUE or Megahalem (don't go for the Venomous or Megahalem Rev B; newer models are pricier and have minor gains over their predecessors.) You won't regret it.
 
Hyper 520 is crap and always will be. If you are going to spend only $30, then 212+ is the way to go. If you want to spend more than $50, the H50 is the best option (push-pull of course).


Megahalems aren't that great, but if you don't feel like doing the H50 thing, then they are fine.
 
I decided to get the Hyper 212+ and a Logitech G15. A lot of people persuaded me and gave me their experiences with it.
 
I love my hyper 212+

I have a Phenom II X3 720. With the stock HSF it loaded at 65-70C. When I got the 212+ it loaded between 34-49C depending on the room temperature. In the winter it never got above 32C on load. Now it's spring (and I live in Florida where it is terribly hot) and it goes up to 49C with games that use all my cores.

Seeing as we have the same CPU (Mine isn't unlocked to 4 though and it's OC'd to 3.3Ghz) it should give you a pretty good idea of how well it'll perform for you.

I have a Rosewill DESTROYER case btw, default fans. ~80F+ Room Temperature.

Edit: By the way, 212+ > H50. You see little to no improvement over the 212+ with a H50. It's over twice the price too.

Another nod to the H50. I got one for $50 at BB a while back. Very quiet, does a fantastic job.
