Who's ready for the Big PPV card tonight?
My picks.
Carwin defeats Mir via striking in Round 2. (big shot then followup with GNP)
GSP defeats Hardy via decision. (GSP controls the whole fight and punishes Hardy with GnP)

Not predicting the rest. who knows?!?!

ohhhhh right the prelims are free tonight on spike too - ya SPIKE!
im going to wait until they release the fights on mma-core, not going out tonight...and as for predictions...

i think mir is going to defeat carwin, tho i hope he doesn't...via arm bar or triangle choke in round 2
GSP is going to defeat hardy rear naked in R 1, 2:45 in the round...ya i called it

and nate diaz is gonna dominate his fight

i dont htink nate diaz is good at all, his brother is good though

i got mir winning by some kind of submission

I WANT Hardy to beat gsp but im really unsure of it lol

I also got Jon fitch over thiago alves

These are gunna be some awesome fights.

Carwin definitely winning in the 2nd or early 3rd. If/when Mir lets Carwin on top of him, it's all over (as Mike Goldberg would say).

GSP might tool Hardy around the mat for 5 rounds a la Thiago Alves fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if GSP trained his striking and we see some nice head kicks from him tonight.

wow i so almost called that GSP fight. i can't believe hardy didn't tap.
but im glad mir got his face punched in, he kinda deserves it if you ask me...tho before the fight when i heard that mir bulked up to 265 i was like, oh boy hes gonna kill carwin

Carwin looked crazy impressive. It was like 22 strikes landed in like 23 seconds. I got my GSP pick right somehow. Can't believe Hardy didn't tap either. Fitch looked good as usual and boring as usual. I kind of think that's Dana's fault though because Ben Saunders CLEARLY wasn't on a level with Fitch.

i have a concern with GSP fights...and thats the crowd excitement. to me that fight was amazing, just watching GSP and what he can do is always awesome for me, but the crowd has boo'd a lot of GSPs fights recently because its mostly grappling and submission attempts, instead of a slug fest.
but watching that fight i think his coach is a little right saying not to try to keep passing the guard, and just drop some ground and pound on his opponents for awhile, because he doesn't really hurt them...he just out wrestles them intensely and goes for submissions. GSP himself said he wanted to finish the fight with a bang, but hes making it hard on himself.
Its just funny how they pumped this gsp vs hardy fight up so much that ppl thought hardy stood any type of chance. Did hardy even hit him in the face once while on his feet?

Sadly, most of the "New" UFC fans are a bunch of "street brawlin" rednecks, they don't understand the technical side of the game. Sad really but whatever.

Here is my thoughts on all on the fights:

Jon fitch is awesome (nuff said)

Frank mir basically got embarrassed by carwin, i was extremely surprised that mir didnt do a thing. I am also impressed with carwins punching power, that is a scary dude.

Here comes gsp

GSP is good, damn good, his style may be "boring" but he still wins and no one is on his level now. I felt bad for hardy,

but my from me, as a guy who trains in MMA and especially BJJ (Brazilian jiu jitsu), hardys ground game was not that great... its a weird thing, that he was training his striking for a guy who is an outstanding wrestler. Prob should of worked on his ground game more but there is only so much you can train for in such a short period of time when GSP has been working his wrestling for a good part of his life.

One thing though, hardy has balls lol. I was surprised he didn't tap. If you saw the fight, GSP had that armbar pretty deep on hardy, BUT!!, me and the other guys i train with, and our coach (who is pretty much a brown our black belt since we dont use gi's) said that GSP didnt have his knees closed together, which helps pull of that armbar. but it was in deep and i bet it still hurt like hell.

i was also surprised with the kimura attempts that hardy didn't tap from either, they were pretty bad and you could see that hardy was in pain, i think GSP knew that hardy was not going to tap and he felt like he was extremely dominant in the fight and released the kimura, not wanting to destroy hardys shoulder and just win the fight some other way.

good fights!

next up ufc 112

silva vs maia!

BJ PENN vs some one else who will lose

and hughes vs gracie (6th degree black belt in bjj)

Yeah, he didn't buck his hips up for that added pressure, but in all fairness watching that in slow-mo and seeing Hardy's shoulder moving around like that was just so gross :crying: I dunno if maybe he just didn't know HOW to finish the armbar. Supposedly right after the fight he ran to his BJJ coach asking what he was doing wrong.

But still, watching GSP literally rip Hardy to the ground with his single-leg takedown over and over was plenty of entertainment for me :biggrin_old:

he knows how to finish an armbar lol (ask matt hughes) he just didnt have on step in place, any other person probably would of tapped from that, hardy just "dosent know the meaning of tap", which is odd because he has tapped before in fights before ufc.

Hardy should of trained his takedown defense a lot more because he should of know thats what GSP was going to do.
