Time for another double-whammy edition of YSDRTotN (say that three times fast).

1) I am pretty sure that our beloved leadership--especially Spray--fears my interviewing prowess. He was your guys' choice for the first Leader of the Month interview, so I added him to my Steam friends list about a week ago to conduct the interview. No response yet. Maybe this will get his attention. If not...you guys know what needs to be done. lol



2) I went to the bank today. The drive-up ATM, rather. Now...as many of you have noticed, there is braille all over everything on the drive-up ATMs. This has always concerned me because...if somebody is so visually impaired that they read braille and need it at the drive-up ATM, why are they driving in the first place?

It doesn't stop there though. Oh no. The new ATM my bank put in not only has the braille, but it also has a headphone jack where you can plug in your headphones to listen to instructions.

Sharing the road with a blind person slightly concerns me. Sharing it with a lazy blind person downright scares me. :glare:

(I think I am gonna go back tomorrow with headphones and sunglasses on and my dog in the passengers seat)
 
i have voiced my concern several times about your second thought...you really do need to go back to the bank like that...but someone needs to video tape you doin it...HAHAHA
 
It is nice to see the banks taking a proactive stand on this. What we need next is to have braille placed on car turn signals and traffic lights. Lot's of people can't seem to see them.

The braille and headphone jacks are there because the same panels that are used on the drive up machines are used on the walk up machines. It's cheaper to do that than to have a separate design for both. I have less problem with that than I do with paper coffee cups printed with warning labels that say "caution hot beverages can burn". Something else to thank the lawyers for I guess.

I do know that Quaffer, but these new ones are for their drive-up only. They are completely different than the walk-up ones at all of their locations and you can even deposit checks after-hours with them (like straight into your account because it reads the checks). Pretty sweet.
 
Probably because most ATM buttons are mass produced with braille already inscribed on them. Reduces any possible confusion on ordering buttons.

So it's not that they put braille specifically on the drive up buttons, it's just that there's no reason to take them off.

Well the chances of a visually impaired person going to an ATM are very low just because they would be able to see with those new touch screens, so in all actuality i think we just might be a little safer if more things were touch screen.

That and having worked at a bank, know that ~90% of people that visit the drive up ATM's are people not in cars :scared:
