ebay is becoming an obsession for me and in my late night hunting ive found something that could be great. its a a half built system sitting at $450 AUD. my 1st instinct is an overwhelming need to have it but i thought id come to you guys before i bought it this time.

here is whats up for sale:

the points of interest for me are the case, psu, blue-ray and the monitor. the rest in a kinda old but still sweet icing on the cake. what do you think eGO? a bargain or a waste of money?
 
Hmm.. $450. I say its a pretty nice deal you got. I mean ur getting a 24'inch lcd + a decent gpu.

EDIT: wait AUD? Just in case, how much would that be in USD? (sorry too lazy to go google oo)
 
Really sounds like a big waste of money, can buy the componets seperate and get much higher quality ones. A lot of the parts are just bad, a 8800 ultra isn't going to do anything for you..

Everything is pretty much useless except for maybe the monitor.

Just sounds like one of those grab bags, throw a bunch of junk into a bag with a large quanity and sell for a large price.

You can buy a monitor and blu-ray drive for like 280$, the rest of the parts aren't going to do anything for you.

Just the 8800 ultra(~$130usd)+ Water cooling setup(~$150+)+ monitor(~$200usd) make it worth it. BUY!!!!!!!!

It's up to you of course, but it wouldn't be worth it to me. Just as Cut Chem!st said you "can buy the componets seperate and get much higher quality ones.", Everything is just too outdated. If you're gunna blow $500 bucks, start from the ground up and get a decent motherboard and processor to start.

I JUST bought the Intel Core i7-930 and ASUS' P6X58D Premium - the motherboard will support Intel's NEXT GENERATION of processors and has SATA 6GB/Sec transfer speeds (on two ports, mind you) and USB 3.0 (two ports, as well)! Price things out and look at your options, I have no doubt that you can get off to a better START and not CLOSE DOORS on FUTURE EXPANDABILITY AND UPGRADING if you take another route!!!

i'll have a look around and see if i can find some better options. thanks for the input guys. this is just to keep me going till the end of the year. the case and the psu and maybe the monitor can then be carried on to the new system.

It sounds like a great bargain, an 8800 ultra is weak but tinker with it (thats IF your handy with computers) and you be smiling away :D
 
You may have started a bidding war that you will not win :-) I do tons of buying and selling on eBay, just got a D-link DIR 655 for $56 . Sittin right next to me working excellent. Craigslist is good for SOME items. I picked up an 8800gts 512mb 65nm for $60, using it in my office machine.

Ebay is win for me.

Just bought a Logitech G15 for $50 and my GTX 275 for $180, both work perfectly.
