It's Fermi, GF100, the new graphics card(s) from nVidia, etc, etc.

I go with whatever is best performance in my price range, which is under $400 (I've been waiting/saving since last September (specifically for Fermi to come out (to see how good/bad it is (and the 470 is looking promising (so many parenthesis)))))

Well, I'm building a new PC this summer and I've got a GTX 285 right now and it'll hold up pretty well for the next year at the very least. I'm building a new PC this summer and upgrading everything but the video card is higher priority.

Waiting for Next Gen or 5850. I always skip the first gen cards with Nvidia simply because they run hot and are replaced within 6-8 months.

I would wait for the next gen cards, but I've been waiting for so long and I don't really care about heat. As long as it is designed to run at those temps (which it is), then I'm fine.
My ancient 9600 GT is holding up very well, I'm gonna stick with that for a while I believe!
How much does a decent current-gen card run now-a-days? I'm self-employed, business is off to a slow start so saving funds is a good thing.. perhaps when the newer stuff comes out the GTX 285/whatever will be a decent price.
That being said, my 9600 GT doesn't have any problems running newer games (ie Mass Effect 2) at full settings, I don't really have any reason to upgrade!

It depends on the GPU.
The HD 5700 series is in the $150 range, And the HD 5800 series runs from $230ish to $430ish
And what resolution are you running? Because a 9600 GT is weak.
1680x1050.
Took Nvidia a while to finish Fermi and pack 3 billion transistors on a 40nm process. Next gen may take a while, not sure how long it was with the GTX 200 series to go from 65 to 55nm. Anybody answer this?

About 6-7 months from what I recall. Because, I remember the GTX 280 coming out summer of 2008 (not very long after the 9800GX2), and the 285 shortly after New Years 2009.
